This program is designed primarily to handle employee travel and meal expenses more efficiently. It is a no-cost, no-commitment program that will streamline our internal administration, reduce out-of-pocket burdens on staff, and significantly strengthen fiscal oversight.
Please note that this program will not completely replace our current travel procedures but will serve to modernize, streamline, and safeguard how funds are utilized in the field. Upon receiving Board permission, a fully updated Travel Policy and Procedures Manual will be drafted and presented to the Board for formal review and final approval before cards are distributed.

Approve Policy AEA as an update item. The update increases the legally required portion of the school day during which teachers and students must be in attendance for classroom instruction from 63% to 66%. 

Approve Policy ABB as an update item. The update to this policy includes amendments to the policy regarding the new financial literacy course requirements under Senate Bill 2294 and Mississippi Code 37-7-301. 

Approve Policy IHE as an update item. This update amends the language to reflect changes to the graduation requirements related to financial literacy courses, in accordance with Senate Bill 2294 and Mississippi Code 37-16-7.

Approve Policy JBA as an update item. This policy is amended to reflect updated provisions regarding excused absences, unexcused absences, and chronic absenteeism in accordance with Senate Bill 2103 and Mississippi Code 31-13-91

Approve Policy JBD as an update item. This update includes relevant definitions and increases the required attendance threshold (63% to 66%) in accordance with Senate Bill 2103 and Mississippi Code 21-13-91.

Approve Policy JCA as an update item. This update includes the addition of the definition of Artificial Intelligence as defined in house Bill 1723.

Approve Policy GGBJB as an update item. This update to the salary scale includes the certified salary increase and removes the performance supplement. The performance supplement for all employees is addressed in Policy GBREC. 

Approve Policy GGBB as an update item. The update to this salary scale addresses the salary increase for the Head Football Coach to align with the statewide teacher salary increase. 

Approve Policy GGBJA as an update item. The update to this salary scale includes the statewide certified salary increase and removes the performance supplement, which is addressed in Policy GBREC. 

Approve Policy GBDB for update. This policy has been revised to reflect the new return to work requirements for PERS retirees in Mississippi in accordance with the Mississippi Code and recent PERS mandates. Key updates include reducing the return to work break in service from 90 days to 30 days before a retiree may return to work, as well as, revising the compensation provisions applicable to retirees who elect this return to work option. 

Approve Policy GFABH as an update item. The update to this job description policy includes the qualifications required of Special Education Teacher Assistants for Pre-K and the K - 12 positions.

This MOU updates the agreement our district has with Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in order to enhance and improve educational opportunities for our high school students.  The yearly addenda we sign for each semester ensures that this agreement remains relevant and responsive.

This is a required MDE document that each school district must have in place for each academic year.  

The 2026-2027 Jackson County Student Handbook was presented at our April board meeting and approved at the May meeting.  Since that time, policy revisions were made by our human resource office. SB 2103 was passed regarding student attendance numbers.   We have updated the verbiage in our handbook to better align with the MDE-mandated changes.  It is imperative that this student handbook be approved and available for all parents and students prior to the start of our 2026-2027 school year.

Approve FabLab Jackson County to Attend FAB26 Boston FabLab Conference

This is a mandatory MDE Office of School Improvement meeting for all federal program directors. 

This conference provides numerous sessions for federal programs departments throughout the nation with updated, ever-changing USDOE federal mandates and extended professional development in both fiscal and programmatic monitoring indicators. The National ESEA Conference is intentionally aimed at coordination among federal education programs under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and other federal programs.

This conference will provide professional training that will be shared with JCSD school counselors to support students with ADHD and other neurodivergent behaviors.
