Description:
Breakfast and Lunch Price Increase Administration recommends increasing student breakfast and lunch prices by $0.25 for the 2026-2027 school year. Under National School Lunch Program (NSLP) pricing requirements, districts whose meal prices fall below the federally calculated required level must increase prices annually by at least $0.10 until compliance is achieved. The District has not implemented these required annual increases in recent years, resulting in current meal prices being more than $1.00 below the required level. The proposed $0.25 increase represents a reasonable step toward compliance with federal requirements while helping support the financial stability of the food service program. Administration recommends approval of a $25 course fee for Athletic Physical Education beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. The fee is intended to partially offset program-related expenses and align the course with other specialized instructional programs that assess fees to support student participation and program sustainability. Administration will continue to evaluate the District's fee structure and food service operations to ensure long-term financial sustainability and compliance with applicable regulations. Areas under review include student registration fees, participation in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), and the feasibility of continuing participation in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). Recommendations resulting from these reviews will be presented to the Board as appropriate. |
