Mrs. Dewispelare - JH Math program
Discussion:
Mrs. Dewispelare, represented the Junior High math department along with Spencer Schlichtemeir and Mackenna Hoffart, both 7th grade math students. Adding in presentations as a fun way to add integers. Presented a tarsia puzzle and how it works, multiplication and division faces and how they work, displayed math problems on screen and how to solve math problems as well as word problems.
Mrs. Dewispelare is also presenting at the NETA conference (Nebraska Teachers Association) and using software/math shown at the meeting. The NETA conference takes place on March 16 and 17 at CHI. Allison Welch complimented Mrs. Dewispelare on quiz bowl success this year. |

Foundation Board Members
Discussion:
Foundation community members were nominated and voted on; Gary Todd, Dawnelle Martin, Tony Schlichtemeier and Connie Reimers-Hild. The two community members voted on by secret ballot were Gary Todd and Connie Reimers-Hild. Gary will serve a 3 year term and Connie will serve a 2 year term.

Admin Reports
Discussion:
Eric Dennis, Elementary principal. We held a family game night on 1/25. Great turnout and lots of fun. I will have completed formal evaluations by the end of February, and we will make instructional adjustments based off evaluations with common themed areas that need improvement. I attended a PLC workshop at ESU with 4 other teachers to help the school continue growth. Met with Mrs. Bergmeyer, Mrs. Tonkin and Mrs. Keene to discuss the state testing schedule. Meeting with Mrs. Bergmeyer to make the elementary schedule for next year. The building leadership team met to discuss school wide goals. The pk team and I met with a representative from ESU to continue Pyramid training. Daycare update; we are meeting all six pence requirements and staff members will make a daycare calendar to align with the district school calendar.
Rob Geise, Secondary principal. Mrs. Kreifels is beginning the schedule/registration process for the 2023-2024 school year. Last week was school counselor week, where Mrs. Kreifels was honored and recognized. 6th grade move up day is scheduled for May 2nd. Did connection activity with teachers. Class rosters were placed in the teachers' lounge and teachers were to initial students whom they felt they had a connection with. We want every student to feel like they had an advocate in the building and all students had at least one initial by their name. Lots of activities going on with parent-teacher conferences this week. Night custodian updates, found someone to perform duties. Big shout out to Beth McDonnell for the extra work and duties she's been covering during the shortage. Welcome to Steve Vecchio who will be our new science teacher. Lisa Bergmeyer, Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment. Absent, report submitted. Nick Krause, Director of Student Services. ESSA/Title visit, which is monitored every 3 years, is scheduled for 2/21/23 with Mrs. Keene and Mrs. Bergmeyer helping to prepare for the meeting. System of care grant, spent time taking information from teachers, contacting parents with results and making recommendations for these students to be connected with Maddy Jordan. Indicator 13 pilot, deals with transition plans of sped students beyond high school. ESU3, have spent a lot of time there. Attended a student service meeting, toured Brook Valley, participated in Yes We Can training, joined the secondary MTSS team and worked on interventions for students with missing assignments and referred to CAT time. The goal is to reduce the number of students with missing assignments. Met with Kris Elmshaeuser the assistant director of Special Education at the state department, to discuss special education finances and funding. School supports all life skills with work-based learning up to the age of 21. Cole Wills, AP/AD. Boys wrestling we had Carter Plowman and Gage Totilas as NCC champions. Girls wrestling had 2 state qualifiers and district champions, Kylee Plowman and Maggie Fiene. Boys wrestling we had 3 state qualifiers, Carter Plowman, Lucas Anderson and Gage Totilas. E sports finished runner up in Mario Cart at NSEA state. Speech has been busy, they competed and held a meet at Conestoga. The team finished 3rd in the conference meet with Ella Lewis as conference champion in poetry. Honor band and choir performed at Nebraska Wesleyan. Power Lifting finished season and competed at Creighton Prep and Peru State. Mr. Wills listed upcoming activity dates and will have spring numbers at the next board meeting. Jayden Speed, student board member. Attended the legislative committee with NASB via zoom. Jayden highlighted legislative updates/changes that would impact our education system. Will forward the information to Board members. |

Superintendent Report
Discussion:
Michael Apple, Superintendent. The admin team have been working on a survey for Parent Teacher conferences to measure satisfaction and facility type questions. The NRCSA conference will be held in Kearney on March 23 and 24th. The sessions will consist of mainly rural school information, school attorneys usually present. Let us know if you would like to attend. April 17th NASB is holding a legislative advocacy day in Lincoln. Let me know if you're interested in attending. I would like to meet with Building & Grounds sometime next month to discuss small projects and tour facilities. Jeremy, Seth and Greg, will send an email with dates. It is time to evaluate the first year superintendent again. Allison Welch, will send out evaluation form and compile feedback and discuss salary for next year.
