This meeting is a meeting of the Board of Education in public for the purpose of conducting the School District's business and is not to be considered a public community meeting. There is a time for public participation during the meeting as indicated on the agenda. |

3. Citizens' Comments
This portion of the agenda is for citizens to address any questions or comments to the Board. The Board will listen, take comments and questions under advisement, and not respond at this time. The presiding officer will refer questions to the superintendent for research and response. When called on by the Board President, the citizen may address the Board for up to three (3) minutes during the citizen comment period. Citizen comment timeframe is limited to 30 minutes. |

5.A. Berrien RESA to Host a Public Hearing - Pre Labor Day Start
Description:
On Wednesday, May 10 at 5:00 p.m., Berrien RESA will host a public hearing with the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) and other local school districts to discuss and review the county’s application requesting approval for a Pre Labor Day Start waiver.
The three-year waiver requests the exemption for all Berrien County school districts and academies to begin the school year before Labor Day. If approved, individual school districts will have an opportunity to opt out of participation in the waiver. The required hearing will be held at the Berrien RESA Administrative Conference Center located at 711 St. Joseph Avenue in Berrien Springs. Area superintendents will share a brief presentation followed by an opportunity for community members to provide comments and ask questions. ******************************************************************************

7. Adoption of the Consent Agenda
Items on the Consent Agenda are to be voted on as a single item by the Board. Board members may remove items from the Consent Agenda prior to the vote. Discussion of the items that have been removed will be added to the Action/Discussion Items listed on the agenda. A motion is needed to approve the items on the Consent Agenda. A roll call vote is required.

7.B. Board Policy Updates - Second Reading
Description:
Administration is recommending updates to Board Policy #8300-Continuity of Organizational Operations Plan, #8305-Information Security, #8315-Information Management. Copies of Board policies were provided in 4.17.23 Board packets. This will be the second reading of the policies. Policies will go into effect upon approval. Dr. Applegate will answer questions.
