V. CALL TO PUBLIC
|
V.A. Pursuant to Federal Public Law 103-382, Title 8 (Impact Aid), and the District's Indian Education Policy (IGAK), this call is for any member of our district. The public is cautioned about making statements against employees of the District that may be considered slanderous. A further reminder, the minutes of this meeting are public record and may be used in other proceedings. This is the time that the public may speak to the Governing Board on any issue including agenda items. Action taken as a result of public comment will be limited to directing staff to study the matter, or to reschedule the matter for further consideration and a decision at a later date if it is not already on the agenda. Comments under Call to Public will be limited to four minutes.
Those wishing to address the board are requested to submit their comments by one of the following methods by 10 am Tuesday March 7, 2023: email public comments to jsaxton@holbrook.k12.az.us, fax to 928-524-3073 or mail by USPS to PO Box 640 Holbrook, AZ 86025. Description:
The Holbrook administration is recommending approval of the FY24 salary placement schedules for the 2023-2024 school year. Salary placement schedules include first year certified faculty placement schedule; substitute placement schedule; special assignment positions salary schedule including math, science, special education and Indian Wells Elementary positions; administrator placement schedule; special assignment stipend schedule, certified staff extra duty daily, hourly and periodic pay stipends, and special hourly certified employee pay rates schedules. The salary schedules are included in the back-up materials.

Description:
The Holbrook School District is requesting Governing Board approval of the First Year Extra Duty Certified Faculty Stipend Placement Schedule for Fine Arts, Academic and Other Duties; as well as Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) related activities as presented. There are no substantive changes to this schedule.

IX.C. Extra Duty Certified Stipends Step Increase / 7% Increase- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Holbrook School District is requesting Governing Board approval to include a step increase for those qualifying on the Extra Duty Certified Faculty Placement Schedule for Fine Arts, CTE, Academics and Other Duties; as well as, Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) related activities or a 7% increase to employees that are past Step 5 on the Extra Duty Certified Faculty Placement Schedule.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve a step increase to eligible extra duty personnel; as well as, a 7% increase to employees that are beyond Step 5 on the Extra Duty Certified Faculty Placement Schedule for Fine Arts, CTE, Academic, and Other Duties; as well as, Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) related activities for SY 23-24. |
IX.D. SY 23-24 Certified Teacher, Administrator and Salaried Employee Raises- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Holbrook administration is recommending a 3% increase in salary for all certified teachers, administrators, and salaried employees for the 2023-2024 contract year.

Description:
The following certified administrators, support staff supervisors and salaried positions are being recommended for continuing contracts for the 23-24 school year: Dr. Jeff Meeks, Dr. Kevin Fosburgh, Ms. Andrea Tomlin, Dr. Charles Haussman, Ms. Cheri Grau, Mr. Clete Hargrave, Mr. Paul DeMuth, Mr. Jacob Baker, Mr. Jesus Luna-Almendariz, Mr. Shawn Tow, Mr. Victor Padilla, and Mr. Ray McLaws.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve the 2023-2024 administrator and salaried employee contracts as presented. |
IX.F. Certified Faculty SY 23-24 Contracts – Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Holbrook School District Administration would like to recommend the Governing Board issue teacher contracts for the 2023-24 school year. All staff members recommended for contracts at this time are included in the back-up material.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve SY 23-24 contracts for returning certified staff members as listed in the back-up materials. |
IX.G. Authorized Checking Account Signers- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Governing Board is required to designate school officials who may sign checks from the various checking accounts used by our District. Included in the back-up material is an updated list which has been updated to reflect recent changes in staff.

IX.H. Special Services Consortium Agreement- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Holbrook School District is requesting Governing Board approval of a Special Services Consortium Agreement for the 2023-2024 school year. The agreement includes an increase in physical therapy (PT) and occupational therapy (OT) services for SY 23-24. The agreement is included in the back-up materials.

IX.I. AVID Out Of State Travel- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
Holbrook High School and Holbrook Junior High School are requesting governing board approval of out-of-state travel to attend AVID training in Seattle, Washington July 10th-12th. The itinerary and details of the AVID training are included in the back-up materials. Funding will be provided through ESSER funds.

IX.J. Great Minds Wit and Wisdom/Geodes 60-Day Curriculum Review- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
Hulet and Park Elementary are requesting a 60-day review of a new reading series called Great Minds Wit and Wisdom/Geodes. The program will be implemented in grades K-5 as a core reading program. Funding will come from ESSER III funding and district maintenance and operations funding.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve Great Minds Wit and Wisdom/Geodes reading curriculum for a 60-day review for Park and Hulet Elementary Schools as presented. |
IX.K. Apptegy Rooms Sole Source- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
Apptegy, the parental communication system HUSD #3 utilizes for parental communications and website design, has a new product, Rooms, that can be utilized by school personnel within the ThrillShare platform to communicate with parents, students, student groups, etc. HUSD #3 is requesting Governing Board approval to utilize Rooms as part of the Apptegy/ThrillShare application; as well as, designate Apptegy Rooms sole source as part of the app that HUSD #3 currently utilizes.
Recommendation; Discussion and consideration to approve Apptegy/ThrillShare Rooms as a parental communications application for HUSD #3; as well as, designate Apptegy/ThrillShare Rooms as a sole source provider for this product as part of the current Apptegy/ThrillShare program. |
IX.L. Performance Matters Benchmarking System and Power School Sole Source Approval- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Holbrook School District is requesting approval of Performance Matters as a new assessment system for HUSD #3 in grades one through twelve. The assessment system will replace NWEA MAP that is currently being used for benchmark assessments. Performance Matters is directly linked to the Beyond Textbooks Arizona State Standards system currently being used by HUSD #3 and will allow teachers to develop standards-based benchmark assessments throughout the school year. In addition, HUSD #3 is requesting to designate Power School Group LLC as sole source provider for the Performance Matters benchmarking system.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve Performance Matters as the HUSD #3 benchmarking system in grades 1st through 12th for SY 23-24; as well as, designate Power School Group LLC as sole source for the platform to operate Performance Matters. |
