V. CALL TO PUBLIC
|
V.A. Pursuant to Federal Public Law 103-382, Title 8 (Impact Aid), and the District's Indian Education Policy (IGAK), this call is for any member of our district. The public is cautioned about making statements against employees of the District that may be considered slanderous. A further reminder, the minutes of this meeting are public record and may be used in other proceedings. This is the time that the public may speak to the Governing Board on any issue including agenda items. Action taken as a result of public comment will be limited to directing staff to study the matter, or to reschedule the matter for further consideration and a decision at a later date if it is not already on the agenda. Comments under Call to Public will be limited to four minutes.
Those wishing to address the board are requested to submit their comments by one of the following methods by 10 am Tuesday December 10, 2024: email public comments to boerequests@holbrook.k12.az.us, fax to 928-524-3073 or mail by USPS to PO Box 640 Holbrook, AZ 86025. VIII.A. Sing Down The Moon 60-Day Book Review Final Adoption- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
Indian Wells Elementary School requested a 60-day review of the book Sing Down the Moon by Scott O'Dell as a 4th grade supplemental book for the Wit and Wisdom reading program. The curriculum proposal is included in the back-up materials and is ready for final adoption.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve Sing Down the Moon by Scott O'Dell for final adoption as a supplemental reading book for 4th grade. |
VIII.B. Magic Tree House Book Grant Final Adoption- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
Indian Wells Elementary School requested a 60-day review of the Magic Tree House book list to be utilized at Indian Wells Elementary School for academic purposes. The list of books and curriculum proposal is included in the back up materials. The curriculum proposal is ready for final adoption.

IX.A. FY 25 Budget Revision #1- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Holbrook School District is requesting Governing Board approval to revise the FY 25 budget to reflect accurate funding for Average Daily Membership (ADM), capital budget revisions, budget carryforward and weighted student count revisions due to current year funding requirements. The revised budget is included in the back-up materials.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve FY 25 Budget Revision #1 to be sent to the Arizona Department of Education School Finance Division as presented. |
IX.B. FY25 Federal Grants Approval- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Holbrook School District is requesting Governing Board approval of the FY25 federal grants as included in the back-up materials. These grants have been approved by the Arizona Department of Education and other entities that administer the grants.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve the FY25 federal grants as included in the back-up materials. |
IX.C. Business Continuity Plan Approval- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Holbrook School District is requesting approval of the SY 24-25 Business Continuity Plan that outlines business continuity in the matter of a disruption to business operations. This is an audit requirement and a tabletop scenario has been designed and discussed with the HUSD #3 leadership team addressing business continuity during a disruption of services.

IX.D. Out Of State Travel- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
Mrs. Brianna Allison is requesting out of state travel to attend a CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Certified Instructor Conference in Nashville, TN from July 5 to July 12, 2025. The conference details are included in the back-up materials.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve Mrs. Brianna Allison to attend the CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Certified Instructor Conference in Nashville, TN from July 6 to July 8, 2025. |
IX.E. Student Teacher- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
Mrs. Barbara Williams is requesting to complete student teaching with Ms. Meghan Newton Pender in Kindergarten from January 6, 2025 through March 2, 2025 and with Ms. Holly Perkins in special education from March 3, 2025 through April 27, 2025. Mrs. Williams has everything on file for her student teaching.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve Mrs. Barbara Williams to conduct student teaching at Park and Hulet Elementary as presented. |

Description:

IX.G. Sports Staffing Model Administrative Procedure- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Holbrook School District is requesting Governing Board approval of a sports staffing model administrative procedure that outlines coaching and volunteer staffing for each sport based on participants, need for specialty coaches and opportunities for volunteers. The sports staffing model is included in the back-up materials.

IX.H. Game Officials Administrative Procedure Update- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Holbrook School District is requesting Governing Board approval of an updated Game Officials administrative procedure as presented. The update includes an update for support staff rates per game to $35 per game for officiating junior high and elementary sports. The administrative procedure is included in the back-up materials.

IX.I. Northland Pioneer College Capstone/Student Teaching Memoradum of Understanding- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
Northland Pioneer College is requesting to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Holbrook School District for capstone/student teaching placements for teacher certification and degree completion. The MOU is provided in the back-up materials.

IX.J. Policy IHB-R Special Instructional Programs First Reading- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Holbrook School District is requesting Governing Board approval of policy IHB-R Special Instructional Programs as presented. The policy update outlines new requirements for a written notification of a student's anticipated graduation date at least one year before the anticipated high school graduation date for students that have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). The policy update is included in the back-up materials.

IX.K. Emergency Purchase For Roof Repair- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Holbrook School District is requesting Governing Board approval of an emergency purchase for roof repair from Mountain Roof Repair to perform temporary repairs to the Indian Wells Elementary roof while the District is procuring a total roof repair. The emergency purchase exceeds $10,000, requiring three quotes. Mountain Roof Repair was able to perform the work in an expedited manner.

Description:

IX.M. Reorganization Of The Board- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
Governing Board Policy BDA, Board Organizational Meeting, requires an annual reorganization of the Governing Board in January each year. The Board must determine who will preside as the President and Vice-President for the 2025 term.
Recommendation: Motion to open discussion about electing a President and Vice-President for January 2025 through December 2025. Motion to elect a President and Vice President for the 2025 term beginning in January. |
