[Section 551.071, Government Code - Consultation with Attorney:] For a private consultation with the Board’s attorney with respect to pending or contemplated litigation or settlement offers, and/or on matters where the attorney’s duty to the Board, under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the State Bar of Texas, clearly conflicts with the open government provisions of Chapter 551 of the Government Code, to wit:

8.B. Approval of Budget Amendments for the period of March 11, 2011 through April 12, 2011.

8.C. Approval to proclaim April 30, 2011 as "día de los niños/día de libros", and May 1-7, 2011 as Celebrando Cinco de Mayo in Edgewood Independent School District.

8.D. Approval to accept the "Texas Support for Homeless Education Program" (TEXSHEP) Grant from Region 20 for homeless families for the amount of $6,422.00 for year 2010 - 2012.

8.E. Approval for Career and Technical Education new courses, Medical Microbiology and Pathophysiology, for the 2011-2012 school year.

8.F. Approval to accept gift of equipment trailer from the Kennedy High School band booster.

8.G. Approval of a Memorandum of Agreement with the Center for Health Care Services (CHCS) to provide Mental Health Services to children and families within the Head Start Program in EISD.

8.H. Approval of promotions, transfers, new hires, resignations, retirements and re-assignments for professional contract personnel where Board Action is required. [Note: Board action on this item, if any, is limited to those personnel items that require Board action; otherwise, the item is for information only, whether or not the Board approves a motion to approve this item; and, in any event, the Board does not approve transfers, resignations previously approved by the Superintendent, retirements and reassignments.]

9. Individual Items for Consideration and Approval:

9.A. Approval to accept the Memorandum of Understanding between San Antonio Sports and EISD for participation in the Fit Family Challenge program and receipt of $9,500.00 for program participation.

9.B. Approval of the use of Frank Mata Stadium by the City of San Antonio Parks & Recreation with waiver of User Fees.

9.C. Approval of Individual Expenditures Equal to or Exceeding $25,000, in accordance with Policy CH (Local) and Texas Education Code Purchasing Requirements, where applicable, to wit:

9.C.1. Approval to increase the amount for potential fees for consultant services between Speech Specialists of San Antonio and EISD Special Education Department by up to $10,000.00, for a new total of $222,080.00, to provide additional speech therapy services using Special Education State funds.

9.C.2. Approval to purchase 60 iPads and accessories and instructional use with the Special Education Early Childhood Students at all elementary schools for a total of $30,480.00, from Apple, Inc.,  using American Recovery Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Special Education funds.

9.C.3. Approval to purchase the Review 360 program from Psychological Software Solutions, Inc. for behavioral tracking for Special Education students for a maximum of $118,309.00 using American Recovery Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds.

9.C.4. Approval to purchase math and reading intervention programs by Cambium Learning (Voyager and Passport Programs) for elementary grades 2nd - 5th and secondary grades 6th - 9th, not to exceed $206,373.00, to be funded by American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) funds.

9.C.5. Approval to purchase math resources for the elementary school summer school program from Teacher Created Materials in an amount not to exceed $30,000.00 to be funded by State Compensatory Education funds.

9.C.6. Approval of the purchase of materials and equipment from School Specialty (Brodhead Garrett) in the amount of $27,810.99 for the STEM Academy,  funded through the 244 Carl Perkins Grant using the interlocal method through the cooperative purchasing network (TCPN).

9.C.7. Approval to purchase 4 Smart table interactive learning centers from M&A Technology for a total of $28,576.00 using American Recovery Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Special Education Early Childhood funds.

9.D. Approval to amend the Board approved 2011-2012 Annual School Calendar as recommended by the District-wide Educational Improvement Council (DEIC).
