Description:
This agenda item is the opportunity for the audience to address the Board on any agenda item. The Board will take no action on issues brought before it at this time but may refer such issues to the administration for further study. 

In keeping with Board Policy po0167.3 the following rules apply to audience participation:

To permit fair and orderly public expression, the Board shall provide a period for public participation at public meetings of the Board and publish rules to govern such participation in Board meetings and in Board committee meetings.

The presiding officer of each Board meeting at which public participation is permitted shall administer the rules of the Board for its conduct.
The presiding officer shall be guided by the following rules:
  1. Public participation shall be permitted at a time as determined by the presiding officer. 
  2. Anyone with concerns related to the operation of the schools or to matters within the authority of the Board may participate during the public portion of a meeting. 
  3. Attendees must register their intention to participate in the public portion of the meeting upon their arrival at the meeting. 
  4. Participants must be recognized by the presiding officer and will be requested to preface their comments by an announcement of their name; address; group affiliation, if and when appropriate. 
  5. Each statement made by a participant shall be limited to five (5) minutes duration.
  6. No participant may speak more than once on the same topic unless all others who wish to speak on that topic have been heard. 
  7. Participants shall direct all comments to the Board and not to staff or other participants.
  8. All statements shall be directed to the presiding officer; no person may address or question Board members individually.

Move to adopt a Resolution recognizing Lake Shore Public Schools employees for their contributions and efforts to our schools.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, May 4 - 8, 2026, will be declared Lake Shore Public Schools Employee Recognition Week, honoring our dedicated Secretaries, Paraprofessionals, Support Staff, Teachers, Maintenance and Custodial Staff, Food Service, Transportation Staff, and Non-unit staff members.

7.D. Approve 1-year Extension to Food Service Contract

Description:
The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) requires the District to renew its food service contract annually. As part of the renewal process, the District submits financial data to MDE for review. After MDE approval, the Board must also approve the contract. The approval letter from MDE is attached.

The 2026-2027 school year represents the second year of the four (4) allowable one-year renewals permitted by MDE. The Food Service Management Company (FSMC) contract was originally bid for the 2024-2025 school year and will be rebid for the 2029-2030 school year in accordance with state law.

7.E. Resolution for review and approval of the proposed Macomb Intermediate School District budget

Description:

Whereas, Section 624 of the Revised School Code requires that "Not later than June 1 of each year, the board of each constituent district, shall adopt a board resolution expressing its support for or disapproval of the proposed intermediate school district budget..."

Whereas, Lake Shore Public Schools, is a constituent district of the Macomb Intermediate School District ("MISD").

Whereas, the Board of Education of Lake Shore Public Schools during a public meeting has reviewed the proposed MISD budget for the next fiscal year.

Now, therefore, be it resolved as follows:

1. The Board of Education of Lake Shore Public Schools, expresses its approval of and support for the MISD’s general fund operating budget for the next fiscal year.

2. The Board of Education of Lake Shore Public Schools directs its secretary to forward this resolution to the secretary of the MISD Board of Education.
