10.E. Designation of Superintendent as Authorized Official for Federal Grant Applications (FY 2026-2027)
Description:

1. Background Information

To receive federal funding under various programs—including the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act—the district must submit formal applications through the State Education Agency (SEA).

These applications require an "Authorized Official" (AO) who is legally empowered to:

  • Sign and submit grant applications and amendments.

  • Certify compliance with all federal and state regulations.

  • Ensure that funds are expended in accordance with the approved grant purposes.

2. Current Status

For the upcoming 2026-2027 school year, the district must begin the "Intent to Apply" process and initial planning phases. Designating the Superintendent as the AO streamlines the administrative process and prevents delays in fund acquisition, which are critical for staffing and instructional planning.
