Discussion:
Enrollment totals for May were reviewed. Total enrollment at this time is 1,063. Numbers reflect the district being on par with April 2023 and down 37 students in comparison to same time last year. Additionally, a graph showing enrollment trends since the 2011-12 school year was reviewed. Member Bryan Strand requested that the district see if they can gain insight on other school districts in the area in order to see if RISD's trend lines are similar to theirs.

Discussion:
Only 20-ton units need to be approved now due to anticipated lead time of delivery. These units will be installed and paid for in the budget year received (23-24). See Attachment for more detailed explanation of all numbers. Member Bryan Strand requested a clearer comparison of quotes for the future. Member Clint Duncan requested that in the future we ensure job order bids have a clear defined scope of work in order to compare bids. Tess Baker suggested possibility of applying for grant money to help offset the cost of future HVAC.

Discussion:
The Compensation Plan is currently in DRAFT form as staff works through upcoming budget meetings. Board members were given the DRAFT report so that they could begin looking over before approval is requested in July/August.

VIII.B. Facilities/Construction

Discussion:
Elementary: Driveway has been repaired.
Intermediate: Bathroom remodel complete with a few touch-ups remaining; band room flooring complete; phase 1 of new door installation complete; scheduled painting is complete - will reevaluate later in the summer for any other paint needs; gym roof demo expected to begin week of June 16. Junior High: Painting has begun in several rooms with touch-ups throughout. High School: Phase 1 of brick project 90% complete; remaining work to resume week of June 19. Ag Farm: Mowed with some clean-up completed; bridge is passable for single truck/tractor but still narrow; field clearing will be completed when ground is drier. Athletics: Top dressing for football field complete. District: General grading and ditch cleaning to be completed when grounds dry; HVAC general tune-ups scheduled for the last week of July. Safety & Security: Electrical portion of fencing has begun; still on schedule to have fencing completed by the start of the upcoming school year; have 3 single doors and 3 sets of double doors to be installed throughout the district; waiting on materials to arrive. "Escape Lanes" for reunification points to be completed when ground is drier. SPED: Restroom remodels to begin on June 19; on target to complete before August 1. |

Accounting working to reclassify over 10% of the purchase price of CTE Shuttle Vehicle from CTE to local funds which will allow for Shuttle to be used by other district groups.

Fencing Back 30

Discussion:
CTE funds can be used to purchase new fencing materials for the Ag Farm. Mr. Westbrook and Mr. Haugh are working together to make the purchase. The back 30 hay meadow is not a suitable meadow at this time. Too many saplings, young trees, and other growth exist. Plans are to rent a mulcher this summer to remove the unwanted growth. Cost for mulcher is already in budget.

District to consider looking into supplemental bus driver pay to aid in retention and recruitment. During their May 2023 meeting, Bowie County Transportation approved a $5 per day increase for all route and sub-drivers.

VIII.F. Student Mental Health Update

Superintendent has met with Counselors on TCHATT program. Campus Team Training is slated for June 20. Laptops were received from UT TCHATT program. District has met with Community HealthCore to discuss options available. Depending upon RISD case load, we could service our students on-site who are current Community HealthCore clients. Another option would be to contract a full-time Community HealthCore employee to be paid half by RISD. Estimate salary - $40 - $62,000. We are currently pending discussion with DialCare for their telemedicine program provisions and waiting to hear back from TAMU-T LPC Program internship.
