Discussion:
Elizabeth Roberts, Student Senate Representative, addressed the Board:
March was very successful! We had a great turnout for Prom, and students were safe. Our Math club competed in PROBE II and had two members place in the top 10, John Mentgen with 7th and Cal Heldt with 3rd, both earning scholarships to UNL. FCCLA, Ed Rising, HOSA, DECA, Skills USA, and FFA all competed in their state competitions and qualified numerous students for Nationals in their respective events. ACT and Pre-ACT Testing went well, and we had a great turnout. Finally, our Air Force JROTC completed their Unit Inspection, had very positive reviews, and are hopeful for a distinguished unit recognition with merit. Siena Van Der Veen and Cayden Martinez were recognized as top performers within the unit. As always, thank you for your continued support. |

Speaker(s):
David Davis
Action(s):
No Action(s) have been added to this Agenda Item.
Discussion:
Director of Technology, David Davis explained how the IT department decided on a vendor for the Chromebook purchase. The vendor chosen offered a "green box" option. This is when the company will unbox the commercial packaging and send multiple Chromebooks in one box, as well as all of the charging cords, to cut down on waste and time unpacking each computer. The vendor also offers barcoding of the Chromebooks prior to delivery, which saves the department time and extra packaging. The Chromebooks will come with the barcode for easy addition to our asset list.

11. Reports and Proposals

|
11.a. Board Members
Discussion:
Mark Lang said that the musical was awesome and the kids did an awesome job. Paul Snyder commented that on nights like tonight when we're able to honor our students and teachers, it makes it very rewarding to sit up here. Beth Merrigan had the opportunity to attend a Board Budget Workshop, held by NASB. She learned about budget timelines, budget considerations, property taxes and what gives us funding. They gave different vantage points, from a Director of Finance view, a Board Member view and others, when deciding on how to budget the District's funds. Ruth Kozal reminded everyone to attend the CTE Breakfast at 7:30 am on Tuesday, April 19 here at the high school, to learn more about the different Career and Technical Student Organizations.

11.c.4. Superintendent
Speaker(s):
Dr. Andrew Dick
Discussion:
Dr. Andrew Dick stated that on Friday, the State Board of Education awarded an early childhood expansion grant of $155,000.00. The grant is much needed for our early childhood program, as we already have a waitlist of 45-50 preschoolers, and we know there are more to serve in our area. The schools are currently in the middle of NSCAS testing. SHS did the ACT last week, and it takes a lot of work from a lot of individuals. From large group test taking to small group testing to one-on-one, we have a lot of dedicated staff working with our students to see them succeed. Dr. Dick echoed Mark's remark on the Big Fish Musical. It was very successful with a reported 2,000 + attendees, in addition to the matinee performances on Wednesday. Congratulations to all involved.
