CONSENT AGENDA
Description:
In Texas school board meetings, a consent agenda is a way to efficiently handle routine or non-controversial items by grouping them into a single agenda item for a single vote. These items typically require board approval or reporting and are based on recommendations from administrators, with little to no anticipated discussion.
Key characteristics of consent agenda items: Routine or non-controversial: These are items that don't require extensive debate or individual consideration. Recommendations from administrators: They are often based on recommendations from the superintendent or other relevant staff. No anticipated discussion: Board members are expected to approve these items without individual discussion. Single vote: A single vote is taken to approve all items on the consent agenda. Can be removed for individual consideration: Any board member can request that an item be removed from the consent agenda for individual discussion and separate vote. |
