II.A. Public Hearing to Discuss the 2023-2024 Proposed Budget and Tax Rate
Description:
Background:
Annually, the district holds a public hearing, prior to voting on the budget and tax rate for the upcoming school year. Public participation in the discussion is invited. Administrative Considerations: A workshop was held on July 25, 2023, and a proposed budget and proposed tax rate were approved at the July 25, 2023 Special Meeting. Recommendation: This hearing allows an opportunity for members of the community to speak in a public format in regard to the proposed budget and tax rate for 2023-2024, according to the established guidelines. Board Action: Conduct Public Hearing.

III. PUBLIC COMMENT
Description:
Persons wishing to address the Board of Trustees must fill out a public comment sign-up form and submit it to the Administrative Assistant to the Board prior to the meeting. The Board cannot deliberate on any subject matter that is not included on the agenda. BED (LOCAL)

Description:
Background:
Information for a proposed 2023-2024 budget was presented to the Board at a workshop/Special Board Meeting on July 25, 2023. The proposed budget was approved on July 25, 2023, at the Special Board Meeting. This information was publicized in the Rains County Leader. Administrative Considerations: A public hearing was conducted earlier in this meeting for the purpose of allowing public input and/or concerns of the district's annual budget and tax rate. Recommendation: Adopt the 2023-2024 budget resolution, as presented. Board Action: Board approval is required.

Background:
Annually, the district develops a proposed tax rate that needs to be considered by the Board. Administrative Considerations: Adoption of a tax rate is required for submission to the Rains County Appraisal District. Dallas, Texas September 28-October 1, 2023 General Session Speaker: Matthew McConaughey Pam needs to confirm that you are certain you will attend the TASB Conference. We get a discount for the whole board attending. Also, we have to cancel the hotel room reservations by August 28, 2023, in order not to be charged a cancelation fee. |
