Rationale:  (Please complete the sign-in sheet prior to the meeting.  A time limit of five minutes per individual is allowed and not more than twenty minutes per specific topic unless a majority of the Board Members present vote to extend the time limit.  No action will be taken on subjects that are not on the agenda.  No complaints shall orally be initiated against individual district employees or instructional materials used in the district.)

Rationale: 

• #110 Athletics - In August the Board Transfer hit this account.  It will be divided up and distributed soon. 
• #220 FFA - Received a $5,000 grant that they were nominated for.
• #713 Foundation - We paid out our August scholarships to 2023 graduates.
• #725 Chromebook Insurance - All of the insurance was paid during this month for our 1:1 devices.

Rationale: 

Math, English, and Science teachers have been administering the appropriate assessments to their classes this month.  Students in grades 9th-11th will participate in MAP testing, and grades 6th-8th in NSCAS Growth Assessment.  We will use the data collected in our department team meetings to assist in instructional planning. 

Rationale: 

In schools our size we have many singleton teachers, so the ESU has created collaboration meetings to support our specialists.  Last year, the service unit started this process and will continue this year by adding Music, Physical Education, World Languages, and Visual Arts.  

Rationale: 

We are excited about opening our new PBSS Store starting Thursday, September 14th.  Students will be able to turn their PBSS tickets earned in for prizes.  Students can earn tickets from all staff members for showing safe, responsible, and respectful behaviors.  Prizes include food/beverage items, pencils, stickers, t-shirts, gift certificates, and teacher tickets, which are special perks for the classroom.  The PBSS lead team has been actively promoting the store, and with the help of Mr. Lafleur’s speech class, the word is getting out, creating a buzz in the school.

Rationale: 

Dean Jacobs will be visiting both the students and staff at NBC during the month of September.  Dean is a certified high performance coach that focuses on social and emotional learning and school/classroom climate and culture.  Dean’s signature theme when working with student groups is to "Dream Big, Live Tall and Make the World Better".   Dean is a big believer in goal setting and the power of healthy habits to accomplish one's goals.  

Rationale: 

NBC will wrap up the month of September with Homecoming.  The cheer and dance squads have already put efforts into preparing for the festivities.  Each day has a theme, some we have seen in the past, such as class color day, and some new ones making their first appearance, such as BBQ Dads vs Soccer Moms.  It should be a fun week of excitement for our school and community. 

Rationale:  We are rolling at the elementary!  With 17 days completed so far, we already have a lot to celebrate.  Students and staff are settling into routines, building community and relationships in the classroom and by the end of the week, our fall state assessments will be complete.

We have 272 students enrolled in PreK-5th grade.  We had 15 new students enroll over the summer, which is quite a few more than in years past. 

Our English Language Learner numbers also continue to grow with 9 students in elementary and 3 in middle school/high school.  At our September 18th In-Service, Crystal Ernst from ESU 2 will be presenting to staff about supporting ELL students in the classroom.

Rationale:  We give benchmark assessments in reading and math to students three times a year; August/September, December/January, April/May.  Teachers use the data to plan for classroom instruction and interventions.  We also share assessment results with parents at Parent/Teacher Conferences.

K-2 students participate in the following assessments:
