7. PUBLIC COMMENT
Discussion:
James Reid - Public Comment - Bullying - loves to serve when he can - serves as the pastor of Mountain Springs Baptist Church. Common theme within his youth - they don't feel safe in school and have a voice - bullying - taught, tease, shame, rejected - bullying not always physical - mostly mentally - sometimes the teachers, administration feel like their hands are tied. Bullying effect that lasts a lifetime. Not a good environment for students to be in. Students threaten to hurt themselves, suicide, or self harm - he is having to counsel his youth. Breaks heart to hear a kid have no hope and not feel safe - came up in his own house. His child defended himself and was punished far worse than the bully. Need to get all staff on board, we can do great things for the kids.
Hopes that this can be put on the agenda to discuss. |
