Due to enhancements to the original design that exceeded the cost of the original agreement, Amendment #2 in the amount of $34,385 was approved at the April 19, 2023, Board meeting. During the drain replacement stage of the project, some unexpected issues had to be taken care of, which caused additional work and extended the timeline of the project. II.D.8) New Part Time Meadowview & GSRP Food Service Director Position: As a result of recent audit findings by MDE, Meadowview School will be implementing a number of changes to ensure compliance with the school lunch program requirements. Recently, our Special Education Director of Offsite Programs took on the added responsibility as food service director for the district. However, this is not proving feasible as a long-term solution given the many requirements to manage the school lunch program. Kelly Hager, Assistant Superintendent for Special Education, is requesting that the Board approve a new part time Meadowview & GSRP Food Service Director position. This position will cover responsibilities not only in the Meadowview School program, but also our GSRP programs that are housed at Packard and Galewood Early Elementary in Charlotte.

II.E. Information Items
|
II.E.1) Packard Parking Lot Project Update: The parking lot construction started on June 12, 2023. The project was initially estimated to take six weeks. However, due to finalizing the driveway plans with the Eaton County Road Commission and some unexpected discoveries, the project may take a few weeks longer. The contractor will provide a list of additional costs in the next few weeks.
|
II.E.2) Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Curriculum for Meadowview School: Meadowview School will be implementing the RethinkEd Wellness Skills Social and Emotional Learning Curriculum in its program for students with emotional impairments. This program provides structured, interactive lessons for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The curriculum is centered around the five core competencies of Awareness of Self & Others, Self-Management, Social Skills, Social Awareness, and Self-Care. In selecting this curriculum, the school committee appreciated the professional learning included for school staff, parent portal communications, and academic connections included with each lesson.
Meadowview School is excited to add this program as a proactive support for students. Initially, the staff, including teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and administrators will work with a RethinkEd engagement coach to ensure effective implementation. In addition, time will be set aside at monthly staff meetings to allow staff time to collaborate on the RethinkEd curriculum, including discussion of professional learning webinars, review of student data, and overall curriculum implementation. |
