2. Review Board Self-Assessments
Discussion:
Board Self-Assessment review - Marcia Herring lead Policy - j-m: how to answer - policies aimed toward effective community engagement - policy review; kudos to curriculum mapping; curriculum review - how it affects budget and how our scores are affected - alignment to standards and testing; curriculum policy CAN be more specific but does not have to - just need to ensure curriculum review cycle; community engagement - two pieces: 1. are you reviewing/updating/adopting policy?, 2. community access to policies via website; communicate via social media and website and engage through board meetings; Government Relations - board interacts with local city government on intermittent basis; once (or twice) a year work session with village board and school board to open up communications between boards; community businesses a part of RCA/Houses - invited in to participate; Student Learning & Achievement - board ensures data results are shared with community - share via newsletters and district report is on website; social media is used well but website still lacking; recognizing academic achievement via website - not a good balance on front page; emeetings agenda on school website; summary of meeting due by law, the community does have to take some responsibility and take some initiative to come to meetings; Anything that warrants a goal by the board or revisit? Priority? |

Mission Statement on top Goals - relating to policies and moving those that don't align with policies to committees (ex - move extra custodial questions to personnel committee) Long-Term (3-5 years) versus Short-Term (1-2 years) All Day Preschool: space? need? value? attraction? After School Programs: daycare vs academic enrichment vs ??? - leave to committee or to administration? - research and assess value - what do we want it to look like? - admin researching and presenting data FrameWorks use, not AdvancEd - FW fits better, more flexibility |

NASB President's Board Award - encourage more board participation; what does it say to your staff and your community?; take your responsibility seriously - grow in your role and learn - model that by participation; all have ownership as a board member;
-delegate participant at state conf -board members attend 3 of 5 -reviewing board goals -total points much equal minimum of 1000 |
