Executive Summary: Chief of K-12 Educationa and InstructionITIP+ Instructional Framework ITIP remains the backbone of how we teach at McCook Public Schools and continues to be our district’s instructional model. ITIP+ is designed to strengthen and support that model by organizing effective practices into three areas: • ITIP+A: Academic practices We are not moving away from ITIP. Instead, ITIP+ will help provide greater clarity and consistency around the academic, behavioral, and cultural practices that support effective instruction. We plan to begin introducing ITIP+ to staff once the school year is underway. New Teacher Orientation New Teacher Orientation was held Tuesday through Thursday last week. Our 10 new teachers participated in training and conversations focused on safety and security, de-escalation, ITIP+, Professional Learning Communities, and professional boundaries. This is an impressive group of educators, and we are excited about what they will bring to our students, schools, and district. Staffing Paraeducator interviews also took place last week. I appreciate the time and effort John Hanson and our building administrators continue to invest in finding the best possible candidates for these important positions. Administrator Days Our administrative team attended Administrator Days a couple of weeks ago. The conference provided quality professional development, legal updates, and timely information to help our administrators prepare for the upcoming school year. We also held our annual Admin Retreat on Monday, July 27. |
