Superintendent Kevin Case and the Board of Education recognized Douglas School District's Early Intervention Program, which has been designated by the State as exemplary--the highest designation for Preschool Levels of Excellence. This speaks to the quality of the program and the level of expertise and professionalism of the staff who lead it.

8.A. 22 - 23 Douglas School District Report Card
Discussion:
Executive Director of Elementary Academics Ann Pettit and Executive Director of Secondary Academics Kit Veit shared the 2021-22 State Report Card. It covers data points for students in grades 3-8 and 11. The report card information is now public and can be accessed on the State Department of Education website.

8.B. Approve Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Great Plains Tribal Leaders' Health Board for the Connecting With Our Youth Navigator Program.

8.C. 18 - 21 Year Old Transition Program
The Douglas School District has partnered with the Department of Human Resources, Division of Rehabilitation on a grant-based funding mechanism to establish an Adult Transition Program. This fall, DSD launched the program, The Bridge Program, to serve students with disabilities ages 18-21 as they transition to independent living and integrated employment.
Discussion:
Director of Special Services Monica Waltman shared information and a video featuring the new Bridge Program which is an adult transition program supporting 18-21-year-old students with disabilities. They learn to advocate for themselves as they transition to independent living and integrated employment. The program is funded by a grant from the Department of Human Resources, Division of Rehabilitation Services. Student Shawn Stock and his parent shared their experience.

Discussion:
Tonya Amaral commented the Booster Club joined with the HS Music Department for event at the high school tonight. The next Booster Club meeting is December 5.
Cathy Melendez stated the Box Elder Area Chamber of Commerce will be supporting military personnel in the upcoming holidays. Fran Apland attended the MIC3 annual business meeting last week. The South Dakota MIC3 Commissioner is Ann Pettit . It was a good opportunity to make new connections on the national level. Trista Olney added that MIC3 staff will be visiting Douglas and area schools in November. |

After a brief recess, Adaptive Schools trainer, Ellynor Martinez joined board members via zoom to facilitate the review of the board self-evaluation survey and further collective skill development.
