Opening The Meeting

Call to Order
Discussion:
President Burnside called the regular meeting of the Stapleton Public Schools Board of Education to order at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2026, in the library at Stapleton Public Schools.
|
|
|
District Mission Statement: The Mission of Stapleton Public Schools is to support and prepare students to read with comprehension, compute mathematically, and utilize information and technology to create solutions for modern problems and to participate as sovereign citizens in our democratic society.
|

Nebraska Open Meeting Act statement and poster placement
Discussion:
President Burnside observed Open Meeting Law requirements.

Pledge of Allegiance
Discussion:
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited; the board norms were read aloud.

Publication of Notice
Discussion:
Notice of the meeting was published in the Stapleton Enterprise on Thursday, April 9, 2026, and posted at five local businesses along with notice to the president of the board and all members prior to the meeting date.

Public Comment and Recognition of Visitors
Discussion:
President Burnside asked if there was any public comment and referred to the guidelines in the agenda.
Duane McClain addressed the board in regards to the foundation meeting held tonight and the Kentucky Derby and Casino Night that will be held May 2nd at the Logan Co Fairgrounds. Approximately $18,000 in grant requests were granted. Beef in Schools has enough hamburger patties for 2 more cookouts for school lunch. He appreciates the board approving broadcasting the meetings in the future. |

Board Development
Discussion:
Opela attended the NRCSA workshop in Kearney and gave highlights on sessions she attended including: Continuous School Improvement Development, Who is Evaluating the Evaluators, and Growing Your Own Teachers.
President Burnside and Supt. Redinger have been working with NASB for a board retreat on June 30th. |

Building and Grounds Committee will meet on April 21, at 7:00 p.m.

Community Liaison
Discussion:
Bryan Regier gave his Community Liaisons' report which included: Chamber Easter Egg Hunt update and Community Clean Up Day will be Monday, April 20th, during 7-8 periods.

Activities Director Report
Discussion:
The Activities Director's report included the following: successfully switched to BOUND for scheduling and contracts for athletic events, track and golf seasons have begun, speech night held for parents and community a success, spring sports photos, MNAC Music Contest, MPCC Dual/Early Registration held April 7th, enrollment for upcoming sports year, open coaching positions, and almost every speech participant qualified for State at Districts. Congratulations to Coltan Clouse for placing sixth in Informative at State Speech and to Briley Kramer for earning her FFA degree. Thank you to all that helped with the MNAC Quiz Bowl that we hosted and to Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Weems for organizing the event. Thank you also to the volunteers that helped with the golf invite and Mrs. Weems for making the pulled pork.

Principal
Discussion:
7-12 Principal report included: parent/teacher conferences, Henry Doorly Zoo biology trip, State FFA Convention, Mullen Art Show, Open Hanger National Guard event trip, blood mobile, Austism workshop attended and teacher evaluations should be completed by April 15th.
PK-6 Principal Isom reported on the following: IEPs/MDTs, ELPA testing completed, State changes to testing, Third Quarter Rare/Attendance Assembly, Arbor Day presentations, elementary enrollment and upcoming activities. |

Superintendent
Discussion:
Superintendent Redinger's report presented information on the following: planning a gathering for Teacher Appreciation on May 15th, and update on the 5th grade teacher position.

Discuss and possible action to approve the replacement of the lighting in the main gym.

Discussion:
The board recessed at 7:59 p.m. to go look at the current gym lights and returned at 8:08 p.m.
