Communication/Public Hearings
Discussion:
Hope Poarch addressed the board. She discussed the cost of the lunch program. Often times, the Keystone rep comes when Hope isn't there. Hope sees the cost when they bring the food. There were some burnt buns last week so we sent pictures and they are going to refund us. We get our milk delivery from Braums sometimes. Our staff tries to provide the best lunch possible. I know that last year there was too much inventory in there. I don't have a problem with Keystone, but I do get frustrated with things. She comes at a busy time. I want to say thank you to everyone and I have my staff here with me.

Discussion:
Shout out to Tyler Rother for being the school spelling bee champ. We have a young lady named Paisley R, and she was the hoop shoot winner and goes to Regionals March 14 in Dallas. Mrs. Henderson started a group and they have been going over lunches, character traits and interviews with students. She is doing a great job with her Stuco group. Next week is Kindness week at the school and we will celebrate random acts of kindness.

Discussion:
Congratulations to Mr. Ford and the High School Academic Team for their State Championship! It was the first State Championship is school history! The team members were, Maddie Vogt, Jaici Easton, Henry Austin, Cody Stoner, Grady Terrell, Gabe Vogt, Jackson Arnold, Grady Krittenbink, Arron Osborn, and Hartli Ford. Congratulations to the Okarche Speech Team for winning overall 1st Place, as a team, in 3A Sweepstakes, 2nd Place Sweepstakes in the Champs Division, along with eight individual 1st place medals, five 2nd place medals, and one 3rd place medal, at their tournament in Rush Springs this past weekend. Congratulations to the Okarche Winter Guard Team for placing 3rd out of 23 teams at their competition in Broken Arrow. Robotics qualified for State! Congratulations to them. They compete in Tulsa on February 14th. We have a student entering artwork into the very first OSSAA Art Competition. If their art is selected, they will have it displayed at the state tournament for people to vote for. The art show will be February 23rd at 6pm in the elementary cafeteria. Everyone is welcome to attend and see the great things they have done. Special recognition to Mrs. Ladd for her and the STUCOs work on Week of Love and Coaches vs. Cancer. The Winter Formal was also a big hit this year, as there were many students who seemed to have a great time! Thanks to Mrs. Ladd and STUCO again for this event. Thanks to Kaylene Ullom for working with me and my math teachers. She will be helping implement the Mastery Connect for our 7/8 grade students. This will enable a more focused ability to monitor master towards state standards throughout the year as well as allowing us to focus on the "essential" standards that we identified the last few years. We are just getting started this semester and will be a building process moving forward. The grading system will remain the same as it has always been.

Discussion:
The student successes we have had lately are pretty great. We have had a lot in the last couple of months. I get a lot of calls complimenting us. Last Tuesday when we hosted Calumet and had all the presentations, it went really well. In the next two weeks we will be hosting districts and regionals. Last week was Counselors week. Both of our Counselors do a great job for us.
Mr. Alig asked Mr. Parham if Mastery Connect will track improvement or not. Mr. Parham said yes, he would still like to do testing on growth throughout the year and have it match the standards. Mr. Alig had a couple of parents ask about any solutions for this year to try to improve before next year. Mr. Parham said monitoring throughout the year is how we do that. We are hoping Master Connect will show us if some kids are ready to move on and if others are not ready. Ms. Ullom is implementing tracking now. |
