7.a. Discussion regarding fireworks.
Discussion:
changed last year, exended sale & shooting off
Kerr - several thought too long Fralin - 4 day to 7 days ruh - most would like to end on the 4th, not many talked about extended time, just not after 4th. Fralin - no reason to have on the 5th, extended selling portion to help those selling. talked to major seller, was beneficial for local Eskra - been involved with fireworks, never in Beatrice, Kearney has done it different times. How was 5th allowed? getting back to period that allows over a weekend. largest is knights of columbus, not worth, had issues. if you go to 6 day, either get Friday/sunda or sat/sun, 6 days gives all weekend days. go to 6 days, for pets & night worker. think go 6 days & never on the 5th. Fralin - most that sell open up 4-6 days, most volunteers, Beatrice wrestling, softball, etc. funds to support their group. fairbanks - one supported for extra day, not sure if sells or into fireworks. 30-1. get the weekend, but still like to limit them to 2-3 days. vote to support 2-3 day shoot off, if longer than that would vote against Doyle - most impressed with days, they paid attention to hours allowed. Gary - liked dave's suggestion, somewhat of compromise. McLain - curious to see what public says, would like some input. Rita Hydo, 208 Sherman Street, disappointed due to not having at 3 meetings. have dogs, work during day, like races, not like for 8 days, dont' just stay in your yard, every neighbor around for 3-5 years, all enjoy. other ways to show patriotism, days after heard negative. why are we celebrating, other ways to raise money & support charity Ruh - mother called, was fireworks were undestand shelena - long time worked with this, thought was just outlining the hours, several calls at dispatch. Fairbanks - would ahve called, but didn't want them to come to house, weighing the option, Shelna - 2nd to 5th, more on 5th confused. Fralin - dogs hate fireworks, not a fan, 4 days of shooting. how many years dispatcher? 22 years. how many citations issued? SMaguire, not sure Dana Hydo, 208 Sherman STreet, always thought 1-4, was a good compromise, dislike them. days on end drives me crazy, so had easy compromise, 1-4 when you could buy & shot off...6/28 to 7/5. get some enjoy it, lots of rules on books that hurt other businesses, not want to hurt businesses, point is, would like to go back 1-4, was good compromise Kerr - had on 3rd, would have fit 1-4 vicki cain, 810 north 7th, not offering suggsestion, liked when it was younger only day. other costs - her dog hated & destroyed house, couldn't work, really impacted her life, think 4 days is too long |

Gary - codes committee - removing occupation taxes, minimal $2000, making process Terry - lot going on downtown met on ella street, finalize improvements that can/can't be done for beautification & stormwater requirements. 3-4 ppl with downtown bldgs to do improvements before any issues. winding down $400,000 grant left - still need to finalize project, if they --------, another grant $485,000, made contact with Senator ____???
