Discussion: President Spencer mentioned the posting of the Open Meeting Laws in the BoardRoom and called the meeting to order at 5:15 P.M. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and roll call was taken.

4. Discuss, consider, and take all necessary action to adopt resolution increasing the school district’s base growth percentage used to determine the school district’s property tax request authority by up to seven percent (7%).

Discussion: New for this year is the third lid schools must statutorily observe when setting their budget: the property tax request authority. The funding needed for the School District to meet its obligations to its students will require an increase in the base growth percentage used to determine the School District’s property tax request authority. Nebraska law authorizes the Board, upon an affirmative vote of at least seventy percent (70%) of the Board, to increase such base growth percentage by up to seven percent (7%). This does not mean that the district will increase taxes. This new law would give the district a cushion if needed.

5. Discuss 2023-24 Budget

Discussion: Superintendent read the Posted Notice Letter to explain the printing error in the newspaper. There was no discussion about the 23-24 budget.

Lewd, obscene, profane, slanderous, threatening, and hostile conduct or statements and fighting words (words whose mere utterance entails a call to violence) will not be tolerated.

Discussion: Last year the levy was set at 1.05. The district will lower the levy to 97 cents. General Fund: 85 cents, Bond Fund: 10 cents, and Special Building: 2 cents
