Discussion: President Gaasch called the meeting to order at 5:30 PM.

5.A. Appointment of New Board Member

Move to appoint Amy Barth to fill the vacancy on the Kearney Public Schools Board of Education created by the resignation of Mr. Dave Brandt, with the term of office to run from February 21, 2024, commencing upon administration of the oath of office, and shall continue for the remainder of the unexpired term of Dave Brandt, in accordance with the attached Resolution. This motion, made by Kathy Gifford and seconded by Paul Hazard, Passed.

Discussion:

Mrs. Gifford thanked Amy Barth for her interest in serving on the Kearney Public School Board of Education and thanked the committee for their work as well.
Mr. Gaasch, as a member of the appointment committee, stated that there were twelve very qualified applications for this position, and the top five candidates were chosen to be interviewed. He noted that all five candidates would make excellent Board members, but ultimately, after deliberations, Amy Barth was the clear choice. Mr. Gaasch voiced his appreciation for those who applied and interviewed, stating that he felt blessed to have such a great number of interested, qualified applicants.

5.B. Administration of the Oath of Office

Discussion:

The oath of office was administered to new Board member Amy Barth.
