5.A. Chairman's Report

Discussion:

Fall District Meeting: Monday, September 18th at Millington High School

5.B. Superintendent's Report

Discussion:

The school year continues to go well thanks to all of the employees.
Aspiring Administrators Academy
- Twenty-three employees expressed interest in the Arlington EDGE Academy (Educator Development and Growth in Leadership Excellence).
Arlington 5K
- The race is this Saturday, September 9th.
- Funds from the 5K go directly back to the district by way of teacher grants.
Superintendent's Leadership Roundtable
- The first meeting will take place September 21st with selected classified and certified employee representatives from all schools.
Q1 Celebration Lunch
- Lunch sign up is forthcoming and will take place the week before all break.
TOSS Superintendent's Study Council
- A-F Report Card Grade - Superintendents provided input. The legislation was passed but is expected to be better fine-tuned as there are some ambiguous implications in the current wording.
Suicide Awareness Month
- Employees were encouraged to wear purple for awareness of suicide prevention.

Mrs. Williams provided legislation updates to all board members
Met with Representative Mark White, Chairman of the Education Committee, to discuss:
- Letter Grades A-F
  - ACS BOE is against letter grades.
  - Public comment on this matter can be submitted until September 15 to schoollettergrades@tn.edu.gov
- 2024 Legislature will look at:
  - Early Childhood Literacy (K, 1, 2)
  - 3rd Grade Retention (should have been 3rd Grade Intervention)
  - Math
