6.A. Chairman's Report

Discussion:

Having the opportunity to work with TSBA Board of Directors, I can confirm that I indeed work with a great group of board members as well as our Superintendent. Thank you to Superintendent Mayo for communicating and keeping the board abreast of pertinent information as needed.
COSSBA: Consortium of State School Boards Association
- Formerly National School Board Association
- 23 states participate
- Looking at budget for ACS board members to possibly attend upcoming meetings.
- Upcoming meeting opportunities:
  - January 20-22, 2023: State Association Board Leadership Seminar, Savannah, Georgia
  - March 30 - April 2, 2023: Inaugural COSSBA National Conference - Leading and Learning Together, Tampa, Florida
  - September 5-7, 2023: Federal Advocacy Conference, Washington, DC
Superintendent Evaluation Tool finished and agreed upon. The tool will be on the November agenda for approval.
TSBA Delegate Assembly attendees: Ms. Williams volunteered to withdrawal her registration in order for Mr. Dunn to attend.

6.B. Superintendent's Report

Discussion:

Updates of major relevance have been communicated along the way.
School Year - First Semester
- Coming to a close soon (7 weeks)
- Employees continue to do an amazing job incorporating students and families with great opportunities
LEAD Arlington
- First meeting held last week with a good turnout
- Opportunity to showcase some of our new partnerships with local businesses through the health sciences classes and how those partnerships are allowing our students to come in and observe and take away real valuable experiences
- Continue to work on another partnership that will potentially open up some real work-based learning opportunities that can lead to careers.
Blue Oval City
- Mr. Goforth and I attended a breakfast at TCAT Bartlett as the Bank of Bartlett hosted SK Battery, as well as HR and Communications representatives from Blue City Oval.
- They are starting to build out capacity to begin posting positions, etc. to build their talent pool.
- SK Battery will be a stand alone battery producing factory on the Blue Oval site alongside the actual Ford manufacturing plant as well as Blue Oval TCAT.
- Having soft skills and work ethic as well as having a strong mechatronics program for students who want to jump from high school to employee with Blue Oval City.
- We are in great shape to have our students prepared for the opportunity should they so choose.
- Lots of discussion around infrastructure in that area, electricity, sewage, housing, etc. that needs to be in place in 28 months.
Attendance (Flu Season)
- Accountability tracking daily attendance as the flu starts to hit the schools.
- If necessary, we have the flexibility to use a remote day (2 each semester under new state law) or stockpile day if we get to that point.
AMS Parking Addition
- Architectural design of the proposed parking addition at AMS has been reviewed by Town of Arlington Planning Committee with a few suggested minor tweaks
- Town of Arlington review/approval scheduled for November 7th
- If approved, project will begin immediately
AHS Fine Arts Addition/Renovation will come later in the meeting.
Creating Our MasterPiece/Portrait of a Graduate Hashtag Campaign
- October Sponsor: Leaders Credit Union
Track or Treat/Movie Night
- Friday, October 28th at AHS Football Stadium/Track
- Activities are a part of our New Family Engagement efforts to promote family and community involvement in our schools.
