Discussion:

Chairman Benjamin opened stating the purpose of the Special Called meeting is to discuss the process of the Superintendent search.
General Counsel Speakman provided board members with Policies 1.600, 5.800 and 5.801 to review prior to meeting. The policies provide a guideline in determining the parameters of the superintendent search.
- Hugh Lamar: Under the impression an agreement was made at the Board Retreat to use TSBA to conduct the search. And submit parameters to TSBA for search.
- Lyle Conley: TSBA conducts searches for school systems
- Kay Williams: TSBA would provide transparency of the search process
- Scott Benjamin: Not opposed to using TSBA but concerned about limited applicants
- Dale Viox: TSBA currently completed 5 searches. Limiting to West Tennessee is to constricting. Consider all viable candidates no matter who conducts the search. Search is not required.
