4. Cornersville School Roof Update

Discussion:
Kevin Turner of Stephen Ward and Associates presented a roofing update. In discussing the roof damage at Cornersville School, Mr. Turner revealed that the damage is considered an emergency repair. The rules were suspended to allow Budget Director Janet Wiles to answer a question concerning the bidding process. Continuing the roof update, Mr. Turner stated: the LMS roof is near completion; the Central Office, Cornersville School cafeteria roof, and Forrest are 100% complete.

During the Budget Committee report, Ms. Gold stated the committee met on May 4, during which they reviewed/discussed a number of items, including: adjustments to the supplement schedule; $220,000 placed in the budget for the Cornersville Baseball Field; new maintenance position to include in the food service budget; Food Service budget; changes in the Federal Budget; include the Cornersville High School damages in a resolution.

10. Director's Report

Discussion:
During the Director's Report, Mr. Sorrells: acknowledged the Special Populations Department for the good job of breaking down the federal budget to make it easier to see; pointed out the CTE clusters that appear on eMeeting; thanked Susan Hunter and the Marshall County Soil Conservation District for the $100 donation to the Ag programs at the high schools in honor of Earth Day, and the trees to the elementary students; May 9 is National Teacher Appreciation Day, and he thanked the system's teachers for their hard work; received an email from David Lipscomb University regarding the Tennessee Transformational Leadership Alliance Grant, which is a 4-year program that allows teachers and assistant principals to take part and finish with a Masters Degree or one class short of an EDS. Mr. Sorrells is expecting more information on this grant.

Discussion:
The rules were suspended to allow Spot Lowe Technology Center Director Lyn Stacey to answer a question regarding a CTE cluster. Ms. Hunter asked if there were enough classes to serve students who are interested in CTE classes next year, particularly the Environmental and Natural Resource Management cluster in which the numbers have increased. Mr. Stacey explained that, depending on the students' schedules, not all students will get into the class. But he feels certain that most students will be able to enroll.
