Jayden Speed, student school board member. Reviewed current legislation affecting the education system. Will be attending legislative advocacy day with Mr. Apple, Allison Welch and Tracey Priefert on April 17, 2023.

Building Project Committee
Discussion:
Building Project Committee has been reorganized and meets weekly on Thursdays. Looking to compile groups from the community with diverse backgrounds to try and get representation from everyone. Looking for new input, feedback and what people will support on the future bond. The first meeting will be 4/16/23 at 2:00 p.m. at the Jr./Sr. high school.

Discussion:
Eric Dennis, Elementary principal. Finalizing the school schedule for next year, getting summer school set up for the first 3 weeks in June. State testing starts this week and thanks to Mrs. Bergmeyer and Mrs. Keene for setting up a testing schedule. Working with PTO to gather bids to make some improvements on playground upgrades. Kindergarten packets are being sent out to incoming students with Kindergarten open house scheduled in August. Certified teacher evaluations completed. Tonkin held coaching sessions this month over teacher and student anxiety.
Daycare, Ms. Shawna, Marcy and I attended the Early Childhood/Sixpence advisory meeting. Still short 2 full-time staff members, forced to close Monday's daycare with staffing shortage. A family engagement class was held last week and we had 24 donations from local business and community members for participating in the family engagement night. Have we considered seniors who have Mondays off to work in the daycare? Yes, but will need to work alongside a full time daycare employee. Posting jobs on social media platforms. Rob Geise, Secondary principal. Thank you Mr Swantek and the students for the awesome art display set up during the board meeting. Included current class numbers for enrollment 7-12, the highest enrollment since I've been here and we will be looking for a solution on the shortage of lockers. Formal evaluations completed. Graduation 5/13 at 2:00 p.m. more communication to come. Vape detectors, more info to come. Staffing updates for Junior High, Math, S&C and vocal music. Honors night/awards night for the high school is back on for 5/8. Prom is 4/22/23, Mrs. DeWispelare and Mr. Swantek putting in a lot of extra work on that. ACT/PreACT complete, thank you to Lisa, Kyleigh, Laurel for their work, Mr. Wills, Mr. Krause, Mr. Harkness and Mr. Belvery. 1st signing today for seniors. Thanks to Mrs. Kreifels for her work on scholarships. Haven Zimmerman won NRCSA scholarship of $2,000. An overview of the music program changes. One teacher will take more of the vocal program and one teacher will take the band program. It has been an ongoing discussion for a few years. Lisa Bergemeyer, Director of Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment. Into Reading and Into Lit quote has been negotiated. We did reduce it some but are still working on getting a few things removed from the quote. Course offerings, and adjustments will be made to scheduling due to legislation changes; freshman now have to take Info Tech where it was previously an elective. This narrowed down freshman electives. Junior High, due to shifts in the music department, will be able to add a few electives. 8th grade will have to take a STEM Science class. Kreifels will start meetings with all students on next year's courses. SENCAP rep has been to the buildings to speak with juniors and seniors. Assessment, testing begins tomorrow. K-2 AIMS Web Plus (math & reading), 3-8 NSCAS Growth (ela & math) and 5th & 8th grade will take Science. , 9-11 MAP tests. Thank you to all staff district wide for patience and flexibility over the rest of the month. ACT and PreACT have been completed and have been submitted. Thank you to Mr. Clausen for letting us use the cougar den for 2 days. Several staff members helped out with testing to ensure students were tested out as needed. Nicholas Krause, Director of Student Services. 2023-2024 caseloads will be looked at tomorrow and students' will be weighed with rubric for staffing needs. Reports coming up, MOE (maintenance of effort), expending equal amounts of local state funds or exceeding that amount for special education.: TIP, Target Improvement Plan, due 5/1, requires districts to review their student data and establish a TIP. Completed ESSER year 3 annual performance report data collection, Policy and Procedure Review. Inprogress reports, IDEA Amendment and MIPS Revalidation. Cole Wills, Secondary Assistant principal and Activities Director. Report as submitted. |

Superintendent Report
Discussion:
Michael Apple, Superintendent. Legislative updates regarding the education system. The Sprinkler system is fixed and ready to operate. We had concrete out to look at the front driveway and have not received a quote yet. NRCSA convention was attended a couple of weeks ago. An Advocacy conference is on April 17th in Lincoln. A meeting of the Cass County superintendents was held last week had lots of good information. Conestoga had a FBLA student qualify for nationals in Atlantic this June, will possibly be attending the Board meeting in May.
