Discussion:
President T. Tegeler called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Members present were: Broberg, Johnsen, Schutt, R. Tegeler and T. Tegeler. Absent: Negus.

Discussion:
President T. Tegeler asked if there were any questions about the minutes of the December 9, 2024 meeting. There were none. The minutes stand approved.

Discussion:
Four students were present to request the board approve extended work release for each of them to consist of 6th, 7th and 8th period during 2nd semester.

Consider/Discuss/Approve quote from Love Signs to update billboard
Discussion:
Mr. Hahne informed the board that the current billboard located along Highway 275 is showing wear. He was approached about replacing the billboard. Art students are working on possible designs. Love Signs has submitted a quote to replace the billboard and provide decorated panels on both sides. Board members questioned the cost, the designs and whether there are other companies that do the same work. A decision was tabled until more information can be obtained.

Discussion:
Mr. Hahne explained that periodically it is appropriate to designate an official depository for the district.

Principals' Report
Discussion:
Mr. Black reported that a committee of teachers is looking at social studies curriculums that more in line with Nebraska state standards than the curriculum adopted six years ago. He hopes they have a recommendation to present to the board by the end of February. Mrs. Novicki spoke about the teacher Inservice held January 3rd, the principal cadre she is a member of as well as student reaction to the phone pouches. Some students choose to leave their phones at home. The district purchased seats in an online reffing class for juniors and seniors. Five seniors have signed up for the class. When they pass the class they will be certified to ref in the sport(s) of their choice. She will meet with core high school teachers February 12th to discuss moving to high quality instructional materials.

Superintendent's Report
Discussion:
Mr. Hahne told the board that Jay Spearman, formerly of Piper Sandler, now works for Northland but will continue to handle our bond transactions for the district. He asked board members on the building committee to let him know what dates and times work for them in order to schedule a committee meeting to discuss next steps relevant to the special election outcome.

NRCSA Spring Conference - March 20 & 21
Discussion:
The NRCSA spring convention is scheduled for March 20 and 21. Mr. Hahne asked that board members let him know soon if they plan to attend.

Legislative Issue Conference - January 26 & 27
Discussion:
Mr. Hahne does not plan to attend the Legislative Issues Conference this year.

Football field/track update
Discussion:
Mr. Hahne informed the board the district should have preliminary results of the special election by Wednesday at the latest.
