January 22, 2026 at 5:30 PM - Garrison ISD School Board

Discussion:  The board president called the meeting to order at 5:33 PM. A quorum was present and due notice had been posted and published. 

Discussion:  Matt Barrett led in prayer.

Discussion:  John Cranford spoke to the board about the athletic director position. 

 

Discussion:  Different representatives from each campus presented the board with appreciation gifts. 


 

Discussion:  Mrs. White gave the elementary board report. Middle of the Year testing windows will be open, with our first grade dyslexia screeners completed by January 30th. Elementary UIL was Tuesday, January 13th. Garrison Elementary was district champions. 
Mr. Massey gave the middle school board report.  They had 90+ students participate in UIL at SFA on Wednesday, January 14. Basketball teams continue to do well. The boys remain undefeated on the season. GT students are about to start building their robots for the upcoming robotics competition at Region 7. Cheer sign-ups have begun. They had six new students begin the spring semester. Benchmark testing will take place between Jan 28 and February 4. Mr. Autrey gave the high school report. We had 15 students retest for their EOC test, 7 students passed. The 8 unsuccessful students will begin every day.
Interventions through our Champion Time. The blood drive held on Jan. 20th was a success at the High School. Benchmark testing will be held Jan 27–February 5. The stand-alone English 1 field test will be held on February 6th. Cheer had a successful competition on Jan. 10th at SFA placing 1st in Band Chant and Fight Song and 3rd in Game Day Finals. The state competition was held Jan 15th in Fort Worth. Power Lifting, Softball and Baseball have started their practices and competition will begin soon. Boys Basketball is currently sitting 4th in the district standings. Girls are young and continue to
improve. Cheerleading tryouts are just around the corner. An informational meeting was held Jan. 20th, mock tryouts will be held Feb. 9th, and official tryouts will be held Feb. 11th. Band is preparing for concert season.  FFA is currently at the Fort Worth Stock Show.

Discussion:  Mr. Spivey & Dr. Hill were available to answer any questions regarding bills from the previous month.

Discussion:  The cheer coaches revised the cheer constitution for the 2026-2027 school year. Mr. Autrey went over the changes. 

Discussion:  Mr. Spivey went over the election timeline for the May 2, 2026, board election. 

Discussion:  Mr. Spivey gave the superintendent's report.
