I. CALL TO ORDER

The meeting was called to order 6:00pm.

IV.A. Information and Discussion on COVID Update

Discussion:
The Gila County Health Department attended this portion of the meeting via phone to answer Board questions. Audrey Hogue asked why some schools in other counties were handling the close contact differently than our district. Her position is that it should be parent choice if they quarantine their child if they come in close contact with another person who test positive for COVID. Gila County is following CDC guidelines. Michael Discoll and Stella Gore from Gila County explained the mask mandate, contagious timeline and other questions from the board. Since this was an Information and Discussion item, there was no Board action.

V. INFORMATION ONLY - GOOD THINGS

V.A. Superintendent's Report
Discussion:
Linda Gibson shared that enrollment is up, JRE enrolled 20 students today. The Town of Payson is working on a grant that may assist with teacher housing. The district will write a letter of support and partnership. The volleyball team honored Glenna Spurlock at their last game by wearing pink socks for Breast Cancer Awareness month. Glenna is a breast cancer survivor. Lynn Bray from Capturing Kids Hearts will be going to the sites later this week to see how things are going. She will be doing the Winning Culture training on Friday for staff, coaches, parents and community members.

V.B. Governing Board
Discussion:
Joanne Conlin shared a letter the recognized our finance department for excellence in reporting.
Audrey Hogue attended the 8th grade football team. They also wore pink socks for breast cancer awareness. |
VI. PUBLIC COMMENTS - Members of the Governing Board shall not discuss or take legal action on matters raised during an open call to the public unless the matters are properly noticed for discussion and legal action.

Kathie Manning explained that there were three quotes and Bud's Plumbing came in as the lowest quote.

VII.F. Information and Discussion to Approve ASBA Bylaw Change

Discussion:
Audrey Hogue stated that she does not support this bylaw change. Her view is based on the fact that these board members were voted to be on the ASBA board and would therefore represent those in the community they serve.
Barbara Underwood has served on the ASBA board and thought it represented all the districts and was well diversified. Joanne Conlin serves on the ASBA board now and also stated that she thought the ASBA board was well-rounded. |
