1. Cost of Supervision for MS/HS Building
Description:
I was asked by a board member the cost for hiring someone to supervise the MS/HS building from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Placing the position on step 0 of the secretarial salary schedule the total cost for 170 school days is $4,348.05. The hourly rate is $11.13. As I mentioned at the board meeting this person would be assigned secretarial tasks by the activities/athletic director. This has been a much needed support for Brent. He has never asked for help and works a minimally consistent 55-65 hours a week. |
2. November Forecast- Minnesota’s Budget Outlook Improves
Description:
News Alert! This morning, state officials with the Minnesota Management and Budget Office released the November Forecast which is used as an indicator for the state’s fiscal health going into 2014. The forecast reflects changes in the current biennium’s general fund revenue as well as expenditures. Today’s forecast indicates a projected balance for fiscal year 2014-15 of $1.086 billion. After the K-12 School Shift of $246 million is paid as current law requires and an additional $15 million repaid which was borrowed from the state airports fund, the remaining forecast balance is $825 million. While the November Forecast is an indicator that the state’s budget outlook is improving, these budget figures are projections and subject to change depending on the economy, tax collections, and spending. Another report will be delivered to state officials in February where legislators and Governor Dayton will use those fiscal numbers as their base to enact any spending or savings changes for the state during the 2014 Legislative Session. Attached is a copy of the press release from Minnesota Management and Budget on the November Forecast. |
3. Scholarships
Description:
Lynn sent me a copy of the Royalton Area Scholarship Booklet, along with the senior parents letter. I thought you may want to know the different local and area scholarships available to our students. Each scholarship has its own dollar amount to be awarded and criteria for qualifying (e.g., pursuing a career in agriculture or related field, member of Crow Wing Power, must have a 3.0 G.P.A., volunteerism, etc). |
