2. Proposal for Sub-contracting Mechanic Services from CarCo Truck and Equipment
Description:
We received a school bus maintenance and repair proposal from CarCo Truck and Equipment. My recommendation is that we work with Gene's instead because of cost and location.
Gene's proposal included $305 for a 58 point inspection and $75/hour on bus maintenance/repairs. CarCo's proposal included $363.84 for the equivalent inspection and $68/hour on bus maintenance/repairs. Although Gene charges more dollars per hour on maintenance/repairs he is less expensive on the inspections (i.e., oil changes with all 58 points). 14 buses X 3 annual 58 point inspections (oil changes) each = 42 42 X $58.84 (difference in cost of inspection between Gene's and CarCo) = $2,471.28 $2,471.28 divided by $7 (difference in hourly rate for maintenance/repairs) = 353 hours to play with 353 hours divided by 14 buses = 25.22 hours available for each bus annually to be even in proposal costs We feel that our 14 buses will not average more than 25.22 hours of necessary maintenance/repairs. This does take into account knowing brake changes, etc. The second reason why Gene's proposal is better is that his shop is located here in town. We would have to transport buses to and from Rice if we went with CarCo. This is both time and expense not factored in above. |
3. Principals' Contract
Description:
Attached are the two more significant changes to the principals’ 2012-14 contract. Several other language changes were recommended by Kevin Rupp and accepted by the principals.

4. Health Insurance Billing Issue
Description:
A very costly mistake by Jen Peters was not switching Kevin Pressler's health insurance premiums from family to single coverage. Back in 2010, Mr. Pressler changed his status from family to single. Jen changed the deductions in his pay stub, but continued to send in family premiums to the insurer.
The total in lost money out of District funds was a little over $22,000. We were able to receive credit back six months to November 2012 (approx. $4,000 credit). You will find attached a letter denying our request to receive the full amount. We are submitting to our liability insurance company a claim for the remaining $18,000. We are hopeful that this claim will be approved. |
