1. Assumptions in 5-Year Financial Projection Model
Description:
Mary will present the 5-year financial projection model at Tuesday's board meeting. I am elated to share, in advance, our very positive projected financial numbers for the next 4 school years.
Because of conservative budgeting and making the necessary reductions and revenue increases in recent years to match student enrollment (i.e., class sizes) our district is in good shape for the next 4 school years! You will find enclosed a document titled, "Assumptions in 5-Year Financial Projection Model." It is an important document that lists all of the administrative recommendations to add back in or increase in the future budget years, beginning next school year (2013-14). Mary will present a similar list at the board meeting with only one exception. We will NOT include the total package of 4% on salary and benefits for future settlements (approximately equivalent to 2% increase on top of the employees' salary schedules). The reason is because this is a part of our negotiation strategy. You don't tell the employees you have budgeted for them to receive X amount and then they expect that and plus some. Because we budget for it doesn't mean they end up with it. With all of these items added to our future years' expenditures the projection model shows us between $700,000 and $750,000 each of the next 4 school years. Our fund balance is anticipated to be around a million dollars at the close of this fiscal year and then drop down to the $750,000 range with the add ins. |
2. Lighting Over Elementary Parking Lot
Description:
You may have noticed we added lighting to the elementary parking lot on Thursday. We will add additional lighting if we determine it still isn't enough for our visitors and employees.
