Discussion:
Mr. Bauer stated that we would continue to operate our own Pre-School program. We would need to hire the Head Start employees who currently work at the Silver Lake elementary site. Conversations took place on the advantages and disadvantages to working with Head Start.

Discussion:
Hobart was out to work on our dishwasher at the elementary site. They recommended that we install a water softener that would work directly with the dishwasher. The purchase and installation would be $3,234.06.

Mr. Bauer has been in talks with Greg Heuertz about the district potentially purchasing the north lot to the west of the High School. They are asking for $7,500 for the lot. The district would pay closing costs.

Discussion:
Several elementary teachers have approached Mr. Bauer about purchasing the Learning Ally Literacy Package District Wide. Mr. Bauer sat in on the presentation and saw it in action in a classroom setting. The investment over 5 years would definitely be a worthwhile purchase to consider. Payment breakdown would be as follows. See attached program information.

7.9. Boys Basketball Coaching Position

Discussion:
The position was left vacant on the extra duty list. We would like to hire Paul Bade as the head boys basketball coach for the 2022-23 school year. Coach Bade has 14 years as an assistant to Coach Carlson at Norris, 4 years as an assistant to Coach Weeks at Beatrice and Doane, and is currently an assistant to Coach Campbell at Lincoln East. He has experience in the classroom as a Math teacher as well as 10+ years' experience as a guidance counselor.

8.1. Superintendent
Discussion:
Mr. Bauer discussed LB 644 and the impact it will have come budget and tax request time. EOP (Emergency Operations Planning) training June 6th and 7th via zoom. There is room for a possible board member if anyone is interested in participating. Mr. Bauer also shared information on the ESU-9 regional PFA / Crisis Response team and invited board members to be a part of the team. Mr. Bauer inquired if board members would like to have a retreat. Board members stated a preference for a budget workshop this fall and a board retreat every other year. Mr. Bauer requested that the Transportation Committee (Allen E., Dennis T., & Shaun F.) meet prior to next month's board meeting. There is a board training session in Kearney, "Make Your Meetings Matter", set for April 13th from 5 - 8:30 pm. John Spatz and Marcia Herring will be speaking. Leon, Shaun and Mr. Bauer will be attending.

8.2. Elementary Principal
Discussion:
Mr. Arntt reported the the HS FFA came to the elementary on March 31st and gave presentations to the students. Kindergarten Visitation was held on Thursday, April 7th, from 9:00 to 12:30 pm. Next year's Kindergartners attended and it went well. Elementary Honors Program & Fun/Field Day will be Friday, May 13th. Honors program will begin at 9:00 am, Field Day at 10:30 am. 2 Board members, Alan B. & Dennis T., volunteered to help pass out 6th grade diplomas. The Elementary Spring Concert is set for Tuesday, May 17th. Jump Start will be July 25th to August 5th from 8:30 to 11:30 am. Bussing is provided. Elementary Teacher Inservice was Wednesday, April 6th, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Mr. Arntt spoke with the Bladen mayor on March 21st about trimming the trees back a little on the north of the football field this summer. He received a quote of $2,700 from Allen's Tree Service. Mr. Allen has it on his schedule. Two 6th grade girls are in school suspension for three days due to possessing a vape stick. Testing for NSCAS Summative Window is scheduled from March 21, 2022 - April 29, 2022. The make-up testing is only from May 2, 2022 - May 6, 2022.

8.3. Secondary Principal
Discussion:
Mr. Drake reported that 1 senior will have to make up days prior to graduation. A few others may need to complete some course work. Completed events include TVC Quiz Bowl, ACT Testing, and NSCAS Testing. Upcoming events include the FFA Plant Sale at Webster County Fairgrounds on April 20th; Prom - April 22nd; 7 - 12 Spring Concert - April 26th; MAP testing - April 27-28th; TVC Track @ Deshler - April 30th; Honors Night - May 9th, starting with NHS Induction at 6:45 pm, the rest to follow at 7:00 pm and ending with a Retirement Open House for Mrs. Heuertz and Mr. Crowe. Graduation is set for May 14th at 4:00 pm; Semester tests are May 17 - 18th and the last day of school is May 19th. Mr. Drake asked for interested board members to help hand out high school diplomas. Leon Lutkemeier, Allen Ehrman, Brant Karr and Daren Niemeyer volunteered. ESU 9 conducted a teacher in-service on April 6th.
