1. Call to Order and Announce Open Meetings Act Verification
Discussion:
President Steve Vyhnalek called the meeting to order at 8:00 pm with all board members present. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

School personnel present were Superintendent Daryl Schrunk, Principal Jake Wiese and Linda Woolsey.

7.1. Principal's Report
Discussion:
Principal Wiese presented a review of the two weeks of Summer Reading and Math Camps. Mr. Wiese and Mr. Schrunk attended NDE/NCSA Administrator Days in Kearney. Mr. Wiese has been meeting with new teachers and assigning mentors. He has spent time reviewing the secondary class schedules. The 6th grade schedule has changed to compartmentalize grades 4, 5, and 6. For the 2022-2023 school year, Fridays 2:00 release will be Professional Development for teachers. Academic Support Interventions will be held during the Friday early outs for students with 1 or more F's. Staff have attended many trainings over the summer months. Upcoming events were reviewed.

7.2. Superintendent's Report
Discussion:
Mr. Schrunk reviewed his attendance at sessions for Administrator Days. He reported on several sessions he attended regarding absenteeism, NexGen Leadership Academy, required NSCAS Growth testing in the spring and ESSA application changes. Mr. Schrunk shared information on the opening sessions for the staff in-service days on August 15-16. The NASB Area Membership meeting will be held in York on Weds, September 7th. There is a Saline County Joint Public Hearing at 6:30 pm on Tues, September 27th. The Dorchester Public School Budget Hearing and Tax Asking Hearing on Weds, September 28th. Mr. Schrunk commended Adam and Michelle for the work on the school during the summer.

Discussion:
Mr. Schrunk presented information on the anticipated 2022-2023 General Fund budget.

8.2. 2022-2023 Superintendent Goals
Discussion:
Mr. Schrunk presented his goals for the 2022-2023 school year aimed at (1) Student Achievement/Success - Meet the needs of all students and (2) Enrollment - Maintain numbers from census and Increase.

8.3. Review Board of Education Policy #5052-School-Wellness.
Discussion:
Mr. Schrunk reviewed Policy #5052 - School - Wellness. A Health & Wellness Committee meeting had been held earlier in the evening. DIscussion was held with PE teacher, Brandon Sullivan and Head Cook, Amanda Cerny regarding school nutrition promotion & education and physical activities. No public comment at the meeting.

8.4. Review Board of Education Policy #5054-Student Bullying.
Discussion:
Mr. Schrunk reviewed Policy #5054 - Student Bullying. Mr. Wiese explained his investigative actions for bullying events. There was no public comment at this time.

Mr. Schrunk reviewed Policy #5001 - Compulsory Attendance and Absenteeism. Mr. Wiese explained his actions on student attendance.

Mr. Schrunk presented the final reading of policies #3003.1-Bidding for Construction, Remodeling, Repair, or Related Projects Financed with Federal Funds; #3004.1-Fiscal Management for Purchasing and Procurement Using Federal Funds; #3012-School Meal Program and Meal Charges; #4065-Resignation of Certified Staff; #5012-Testing and Assessment Program; #6021-District Criteria for Selecting Evaluators to be Used for Special Education Evaluation and Verification and Independent Educational Evaluations. 10.1. Wellness Committee Report
Discussion:
The Committee, consisting of Shelly Lehr, Carol Schnell and Kelli Schweitzer met on Monday, August 8, at 7:30 p.m. Also in attendance were Daryl Schrunk, Jake Wiese, Amanda Cerny and Brandon Sullivan. Discussion was held regarding the Policy #5052-School Wellness Policy. The goals for nutrition promotion and education were reviewed with Head Cook, Amanda Cerny. Changes to the school lunch menu for the 2022-2023 school year were discussed. The goals for physical activity were reviewed with PE teacher, Brandon Sullivan. No public comment.

10.2. Buildings and Grounds Committee Report
Discussion:
On Tuesday, July 19, at 8:00 p.m., there was a meeting at the Dorchester Fire Hall. Various members of the public representing the Village Board, Dorchester Community Foundation Board, and Dorchester Public School Buildings and Grounds Committee met to discuss a possible future sports complex (baseball/softball fields, football field, tennis courts, etc.).
