V.C. IdentoGo Live Scan Fingerprinting Partnership

Discussion:
Request approval to enter into a partnership agreement between the Smith County Board of Education and IdentoGO by IDEMIA to provide fingerprinting services for school employees, as well as other local agencies and organizations that require fingerprint-based background checks.
There are no start-up costs associated with becoming an IdentoGO fingerprinting provider. Establishing a fingerprinting location locally would provide a convenient and immediate option for new employees who need to complete the fingerprinting process as part of their background check. The service can be incorporated into our existing operations without the need to hire additional staff. Current staff members can be trained to perform the fingerprinting services, allowing us to provide this added convenience while utilizing existing resources. Because all school employees are required to be fingerprinted every five years, having a fingerprinting location within the county would provide a significant convenience for employees and help reduce the need for staff to take time away from work to travel to another county for these services. In addition to providing a convenient service to our employees and community partners, the partnership would provide a revenue opportunity for the Board of Education, with the Board receiving approximately $3-$5 per fingerprinting service performed. Approval of this partnership would provide a convenient local service, streamline the onboarding process for new employees, reduce travel and time away from work, and create a modest additional revenue source for the Board. |

Request approval to amend Policy 4.605, Graduation Requirements, to reflect the county’s requirement that all students earn twenty-eight (28) units of credit for graduation, beginning with the freshman class of 2024-2025. This requirement consists of the twenty-two (22) units of credit required by the state, along with six (6) additional units of credit required by the local Board. It is further requested that the Board utilize Policy 1.600 to adopt the proposed changes on first reading and authorize the revised policy to be implemented early during the current school year.
