3.3. Approve bids for YMCA/McCook Public Schools parking lot construction:
Four bids were opened with contractors present and Greg Wolford from W Design. It was stated that the two high bidders are out, that being BSB Construction and Sporer Land Development. The group did not even compare their bids. For the base bid for a complete concrete parking lot. Paulsen, Inc is the low bid. The net cost to the school is $ 850,793.12 after the YMCA pays their share of the earthwork. Paulsen is using Leising Const. from Arapahoe as their dirt subcontractor. All other work is by Paulsen, Inc. Plus W design fees of 5% = $42,539.66. Total cost = $893,333.78. Project Start Date is Sept 12, 2025 For Alternate No. 1 – Pave the southern portion of the new parking lot with concrete, the northern portion near the track and tennis courts with 4” of asphalt. Sampson Construction is the low bidder, with a net bid of $777,543.52 respectively for the School cost. For subcontractors Sampson is using BSB for earthwork, Hegwood Const. for concrete and Shelco for asphalt. Plus W design fees of 5% = $38,877.18. Total cost = $816,420.070. Project Start date is April 21, 2025 For Alternate No. 2 – Pave the entire parking lot with 4” of asphalt. This option still has all the concrete curb and gutter, sidewalk and stairs to the tennis courts and track. Sampson Construction is the low bidder, with net bids of $706,129.07 respectively for the School cost. For subcontractors Sampson is using BSB for earthwork, Hegwood Const. for concrete and Shelco for asphalt. Plus W design fees of 5% = $35,306.45. Total cost = $741,435.52. Project Start date is April 21, 2025
