Each year Tennessee celebrates "School Board Appreciation Week" as a way to honor our local school board members.  These volunteers govern our schools and make a difference in the lives of our children and communities. "School Board Appreciation Week" in Tennessee is January 25 - February 1, 2025. This is a time to focus on the crucial role an elected school board plays in our community and schools. School board members determine a vision for education; design a structure to achieve that vision; assure the schools are accountable to the local community; and advocate for continuous improvement in student learning. There are many meetings and school functions to attend; unlimited amounts of reports, agendas, proposals and other information to read and study; and a variety of difficult decisions to make. School Board Week is a chance for the community to thank these individuals for their unselfish giving of time and service.  

Dr. Andy True, Assistant Superintendent - Administration, will lead a celebration honoring the Kingsport Board of Education in recognition of Tennessee School Board Appreciation Week.  Books are being donated to school libraries on behalf of the 2025 Kingsport Board of Education.

Description:  Mr. David Frye, Chief Finance Officer, will provide a financial update for the 1st quarter of FY 2024-2025.

Description:  Dr. True and Ms. Marybeth Kench, Communications Coordinator, will provide a brief overview of the 2023-2024 Kingsport City Schools Annual Report.

Description:  Dr. True will review two revised policies for Board consideration on First Reading at the February meeting.

Description:  This is an information-sharing opportunity for Board members to communicate any news and/or updates from committees on which they serve.

Description:  Superintendent Dr. Chris Hampton will share several items of interest with the Board.
