12.B. Approve SECOND READING of REVISED Board Policy EFB, Free and Reduced Price Food Services.
Recommended Motion(s):
Motion to approve SECOND READING of REVISED Board Policy EFB, Free and Reduced Price Food Services. This motion, made by {Insert Board Member} and seconded by {Insert Board Member}, {Insert Action Result}.
Rationale:
Currently, families who qualify for Reduced meals pay $.30 for breakfast and $.40 for lunch. During FY23, that amounted to a total of $10,662.00. That amounts to 1% of the total proceeds receipted in the Food Service Fund.
By offering free meals to all families who qualify for reduced meals (they all MUST fill out the free/reduced form), we hope to (1) benefit additional families with free meals; (2) increase participation with all our families to fill out the free/reduced applications and possibly (3) increase funds received in programs (Title I, ERate, etc) which use the free/reduced applications as funding sources for the District with a minimum cost to the District. By evaluating annually, if the Food Service Fund is no longer able to offer free meals to those that qualify for reduced meals, the District can return to charging $.30 for breakfast and $.40 for lunch to those families.

Motion to Approve Personnel Secretary and Curriculum Secretary Job Descriptions. This motion, made by {Insert Board Member} and seconded by {Insert Board Member}, {Insert Action Result}.
