The school year is off to a great start! 

Falcon Families is a time on Fridays that allows students to practice life skills, problem solve, and think outside of the box through various activities. This time is beneficial for developing skills and relationships between students and staff. 

Falcon Cards have been shared out on the live feed and social media highlighting the moments our students shine the brightest. 

L.E.A.D. (Leaders of Education, Activities, and Decisions) A leadership group made up of a couple 5th and 6th graders to help problem solve, plan, and lead the student body at the Hildreth site. Students should be selected by next week.

F.O.R.K. (Falcons Observed Radiating Kindness) continues this year! Staff wide recognition with the coolest souvenir. Staff members are nominated by other staff members celebrating why/how our staff is so great. This has been a fun way to give the prideful moments to our staff.

District testing is in progress. There is no finalized data to share at this time as students are still completing the assessments.* This year, we are continuing with the three testing windows throughout the school year, but grades 3-8 will now be taking NSCAS all three times instead of MAPs. Typically NSCAS is taken in the spring and serves as state testing. Originally, NDE shared NSCAS would begin testing more frequently, similar to MAPs, and would provide comparable data. They also shared this would be required for all districts but as the school year got closer, they shared they would not be ready so the 3 sessions of NSCAS would be optional. We decided to take the plunge and continue with the original plan of switching grades 3-8 to NSCAS three times a year, starting this year. The one MAPs test that we are making an exception for is the Language assessment. This provides us with data for the School Improvement Plan and Targeted Improvement Plan. Grades 2-11 will continue to take the Language portion of MAPs

Summary of what grades are taking what and when:

• K-1: MAPs (Math, Reading) 3 times a year

• 2: MAPs (Math, Reading, Language, Science) 3 times a year

• 3-8: MAPs (Language) and NSCAS (Math and ELA) 3 times a year

  • 5th and 8th grade will also take NSCAS (Science) spring only

• 9-10: MAPs (Math, Reading, Language, Science) 3 times a year

  • 10th will take the PreACT, fall only

• 11: MAPs (Math, Reading, Language, Science) fall and winter only

  • 11th will take the ACT, spring only

*Incomplete Assessments: 

• NSCAS ELA: 17 incomplete assessments

• NSCAS Math: 22 incomplete assessments

• MAPs 3-6: 3 incomplete assessments
• MAPs 7-12: 6 incomplete assessments

• The band marched in two parades this fall.
• Fall sports updates
• Homecoming coronation will be held in Wilcox after the volleyball game
• Boy/Girl Counts for the next 5 years and the possible impact on activities at the junior high and high school levels
• Next fall the district will need to declare if we will participate in 8-man or 6-man football during the next cycle. Participating in 6-man football would make the district ineligible for the playoffs for three years.
