4. Visitors and communication from the public

Discussion: Visitors in attendance: Julie Tarr, Latricia Nitchie, Melanie Gardels, Kelsie Gardels, Teresa Carey, Merlyn and Pat Bartels, Jessica Harold, Jennifer Kinerk. Several visitors voiced their concerns on the Nebraska Department of Education Health Standards being proposed. Julie Tarr (WH Early Childhood Community Coordinator) informed board regarding the C4K Grant-Cultivating Kids and the need of childcare in the Hildreth and Wilcox Communities. Several visitors also inquired about the repairs to the baby pool and possible options to the baby pool being re-opened.

6. Discussion Items

6.A. Discuss compliance with the Nebraska Game and Parks grant to operate and maintain the Wilcox pool facilities.

Discussion: Options for correcting the compliance standards for Nebraska Game and Parks:

Repair the baby pool with a stand-alone filtration system. The estimated cost of repairs is $42,000.
Repair the baby pool by fixing the piping to the current filtration system. Cost estimates are not available yet.
Work with the National Park Service to change the facility use agreement and close the baby pool indefinitely.
Work with the National Park Service to close all of the Wilcox pool facilities indefinitely, and change the public use agreement to operate a different type of public area other than a pool.
Work with the Village of Wilcox and the Nebraska Game and Parks to have the Village of Wilcox operate and maintain the Wilcox pool.
Work with the Village of Wilcox to contribute funds to repair the baby pool in Wilcox.

7.B. Principal Report

Discussion: Principal Simmons' sent the following report to the board:

"Summer projects happening"
*PBIS/MTSS team spent time in training on June 17 to learn positive behavior strategies in the classroom (which will be shared with all staff throughout the year)
*MTSS team will be in a 2-day training June 28-29 to learn how to use the EduCLIMBER program in order to help the district track academic and behavior data more efficiently
*Admin team is working on fine-tuning the mentor program by creating a more efficient laid-out handbook for the new teachers.
