4.1. Minutes of February 09, 2026 Regular Meeting
Agenda Item Type:
Consent Item
Rationale:
Section 79-805 of Nebraska Statutes calls for the District to publish in a legal newspaper a "concise summary" of the proceedings of the Board of Education. Section 84-1413 of Nebraska Revised Statutes calls for the District to maintain official minutes that contain "the substance of all matters discussed." Therefore, for each board meeting a concise summary of the minutes is published in the Auburn Newspapers and a detailed set of minutes is maintained in the superintendent’s office. A copy of the official minutes is attached to the board agenda for each regular meeting and special meeting.
The official minutes may make references to attachments. These attachments are reproduced with the minutes attached to the board agenda only if such attachments are different from those presented at the meeting. The attachments, however, are in the record of official minutes maintained at the superintendent’s office.

According to Nebraska State Statute 84-1412, all speakers must identify himself or herself, including an address and the name of any organization represented by such person, unless the address requirement is waived to protect the security of the individual. Speakers are expected to address the Board when making presentations. If a group of patrons is presenting a single issue, the board requests that a spokesperson be appointed to address the Board, however, anyone may talk within the stated time limit. Speakers who feel a need to give more information than can be presented in that time frame may submit written materials for distribution to the Superintendent; such materials should be provided at least 24 hours before the meeting is to begin.
The Board of Education may make and enforce reasonable rules and regulations regarding the conduct of persons attending its meetings and regarding their privilege to speak. |

12.5. Jason Palmer
Agenda Item Type:

Admin Notes:
March Board of Education Report (Monday, March 9th, 2026) Submitted by Jason Palmer - Friday, March 6th, 2026 The winter sports season is beginning to wind down and many of our winter sports have finished their seasons.
Other: The AEA Institute - The Mental Edge Academy. AEA’s Mental Edge Academy works with high schools and colleges across the country on the mental side of sports. We have this new opportunity available for our student-athletes, made possible through funding by the Sports Boosters. I was made aware of the program in December and I emailed our head coaches with information on the program. We had seven head coaches reach out and express interest in wanting to incorporate it into their programs. The program works through short five to seven minute exercises / lessons that are provided through an app that students and coaches can download onto their smartphones. The academy focuses on what they call 15 different "mental edge mindsets." They are: Adaptability, Ambition, Challenge Mastery, Curiosity, Discipline, Emotional Stamina, Focus, Grit, Mental Fortitude, Perseverance, Reflection, Resilience, Self Development, Teamwork, and Tenacity. The athletes do a pre-test to help determine mindset areas of strength and mindset areas of weakness. The daily exercises are then geared oftentimes toward areas of weakness. We are not requiring all athletes to participate in it. Additionally, there is an area within the app that has lessons geared towards other areas that athletes want to explore. Some examples are: emotion change tools, self-talk, balancing academics and athletics, nutrition and sleep, leadership tools, etc... Participation is voluntary and not made mandatory by coaches, so if a parent or the athlete does not want to participate, they are not required to do so. Coaches of spring sports and players (and parents) have had the opportunity to attend a Zoom session or to watch a recording of the Zoom session to learn more. The official kickoff for those that plan to utilize it will be Monday, March 9th. I believe that our student-athletes have many pressures today and that social media can make things more difficult for students today. Having this tool at their exposure should benefit our student-athletes.More information about the academy: |
