9. Elementary Principal's Report
Rationale:
Elementary Principal’s Report Invention Convention Franklin elementary students competed on March 23rd at Pioneer Village in the ESU Annual Invention Convention. Fifth grade student, Emily Rutt placed 2nd with her invention. Sixth grader Kristen Herrick placed first and Taelyn Pritchard placed 3rd with her invention. Taelyn Pritchard invented the Ice Detectors.
The Ice Detectors are sensors attached to the front of a car that detects black ice that the drive isn't able to see. The Ice Detectors then send a message to the app on your phone that alerts you to dangerous road conditions. The intent of Ice Detectors is to prevent accidents and save lives.
Emily Rutt Franklin 5 Syringe Cooler
The Syringe Cooler is a cooler equipped with slots to hold syringes used to vaccinate livestock. It holds the vaccine serum in the bottom and then has slots on the side of the cooler for the syringes. It is a huge improvement on current coolers in which the syringes fall out when opened.
Kristen Herrick Franklin 6 "AG"extraordinary Dice!
Kristen invented a dice game with a map and booklet of answers that teaches kids about many areas of agriculture and how they benefit you. It is a great tool to learn about the many avenues of agriculture and ranching.
A total of 17 students competed in the event from Franklin. 3rd Graders (5) 5th Graders (5) 6th Graders (7) Title 1 Committee Meeting The Title 1 committee met on Tuesday, April 7th to conduct our annual review of the Title 1 School wide Program. Together I work with Dianna DeJonge to prepare for our annual self-review of our program in which we submit to the Nebraska Department of Education. Every two years were are required to review plans from other districts and every three years we have an on-site visit from the NDE Title 1 office. On Monday, April 13th, Dianna and I will travel to ESU 10 to participate in the peer review with other Nebraska schools. Dianna has been a great leader in organizing our committee meeting and is great help to me in putting the information needed for submission to the state. Thank you to those who served on our committee your input is important to us.
