12. K-2 SCIENCE CURRICULUM RECOMMENDATION
The current K-2 science curriculum was adopted and purchased in 2005. This curriculum no longer aligns with our current Michigan Science Standards. Based on the results of the examination of available curriculums, it is the committee’s recommendation to adopt Cereal City-Science by Battle Creek Area Mathematics and Science Center (2022). This K-2 science curriculum is an accomplished STEM works program. Cereal City Science provides a science kit for each grade level, extensive teacher support, professional development, and on-line support. The cost of the curriculum materials will not exceed $112,000 and includes all teacher support materials, professional development, online access, and shipping. The process has been endorsed by Administration, and a motion for approval of the textbook purchase will be presented at May 4, 2023, Regular Board meeting.

14. RESOLUTION: MHSAA COOPERATIVE TEAM APPLICATION
Walled Lake Central, Western, and Northern High Schools are requesting to combine their programs and form a Junior Varsity (JV) Girls Lacrosse Cooperative Team for the 2023 spring season due to low participation numbers. Combining the JV Girls Lacrosse programs will allow all three High Schools to participate in Girls Lacrosse at the Junior Varsity Level, while Walled Lake Northern High School will continue to maintain its Varsity Girls Lacrosse Team. Administration recommends the Board approve the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Cooperative Team Application. |
15. 2022-23 BUDGET AMENDMENT

18. EQUIPMENT USAGE REQUEST - Memorial Day Parade
The Walled Lake Schools Transportation Department has participated in the City of Walled Lake’s annual Memorial Day Parade for many years. A Walled Lake/Dean Transportation bus driver drives the buses in the parade procession, which provides a good public relations opportunity during this highly anticipated community event. This year’s Memorial Day parade is on Monday, May 29, 2023. Administration supports participation by the Walled Lake Transportation Department and allowing them to use two Walled Lake buses for the parade. Walled Lake/Dean Transportation employees will donate their time to drive the buses in the parade and clean them afterward. |
19. BOARD POLICY REGULATION UPDATES
The Board Policy Administrative Regulations fees and fines are reflected in 2001 AR Student Fees, Deposits, Fines and Charges, 7002 AR Fee Schedule School Facilities, and 7002 AR Use of School Facilities Outdoor Center. Fees have been updated to reflect the rates for the 2023-24 school year. These Board Policy regulations are being submitted as informational items prior to updating the web-based Board Policy Manual. |
