8. CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE) PRESENTATION
Mr. Michael Weaver, Career Readiness Program Coach and former CTE Teacher at Walled Lake Central High School, will present an overview of the CTE programs offered at all three high schools, as well as commentary on how the CTE Programs fit within the broader Career Readiness Program. |
9. BOND RESOLUTION-2022 SCHOOL BUILDING AND SITE BONDS
The Bond Resolution authorizes the School District’s Administration to proceed with the issuance of the third and final series of the $316 million capital improvement Bonds approved by the voters at the May 7, 2019, election. The Bonds to be issued will be an amount not-to-exceed $64,430,000. The Resolution sets forth the terms of the Bonds and authorizes all of the actions required by law in order to issue the Bonds. The Resolution delegates to the Superintendent the authority to negotiate and accept an offer to purchase the Bonds from the Underwriter. The President and Secretary are authorized to sign the Bonds, and the Superintendent is authorized to sign all of the other closing documents. |
10. TEXTBOOK ADOPTION HIGH SCHOOL PRECALCULUS
Walled Lake High School’s Honors Precalculus and Precalculus courses are rigorous mathematics courses. The courses currently use a textbook with a copyright date of 2011. A committee of high school mathematics teachers and curriculum coordinators met and examined four current Precalculus textbooks. Based on the committee’s review results, Demana, Precalculus: Graphical, Numerical, Algebraic Common Core Edition, 10th Edition (2019), is recommended by the evaluation team. This process has been endorsed by Administration, and a motion for approval of the textbook purchase will be presented to the Board at the March 3, 2022, meeting. |
11. TEXTBOOK ADOPTION HIGH SCHOOL AP ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
Walled Lake High School’s Advanced Placement Environmental Science is a rigorous elective science course in which the current textbook needs to be updated to meet the College Board requirements. A committee of high school science teachers and curriculum coordinators met and examined three current AP Environmental Science curriculum programs. Based on the committee’s review results, Withgott, Jay, and Laposata, Matthew. Environment the Science Behind the Stories AP edition. 7th edition Pearson (2021), is recommended by the evaluation team. This process has been endorsed by Administration, and a motion for approval of the textbook purchase will be presented to the Board at the March 3, 2022, meeting. |
12. SUPERVISOR OF REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH EDUCATION
Public Act 226 of 1977 requires that a district sponsoring a program of reproductive health education appoint a supervisor of the program. The supervisor coordinates the activities of the advisory board and helps evaluate the teaching/learning process for the improvement of instruction. Administration recommends the continued appointment of Mr. Dan Holland as Supervisor of Reproductive Health Education and Mrs. Catherine Russel as co-Reproductive Health Supervisor for the 2021-22 school year. |
13. REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH EDUCATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Public Act 226 of 1977 requires that a district advisory board for reproductive health education be established consisting of representatives from the following areas: parents, students, educators, clergy, and community health. The role of the advisory committee is to periodically review materials and methods of instruction and recommend changes, if appropriate. 14. BOARD POLICY ADMINISTRATIVE REGULATIONS UPDATE
4000 AR Central Office Administrators and Building Administrators Board policy regulations have been updated to reflect administrative changes in the District. 2001 AR Student Fees, Deposits, Fines, and Charges have been updated to reflect the 2022-23 Preschool Program fees. This update is being provided as an informational item prior to the Preschool registration process and the Board Policy website update and notification. |
15. RESOLUTION: MASB BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTION FOR REGION 8
The Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB) requests that the Walled Lake Schools Board of Education officially select one candidate for the MASB Board of Director, Region 8 three-year term.
