VI.C. Consider and Approve the TEKS Certification and Instructional Materials Allotment

Description:
In accordance with Texas Education Code §31.004, local education agencies (LEAs) are required to certify annually to the State Board of Education (SBOE) and the commissioner that students have access to instructional materials covering all Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for all required subjects, except physical education.
Additionally, in accordance with Texas Administrative Code 19 TAC §66.105, LEAs are required to certify that they protect against access to obscene or harmful content in compliance with the requirements for certification under the Children's Internet Protection Act, 47 USC §254(h)(5)(B) and (C). The TEKS Certification 2023-24 Survey includes a section to allow LEAs to certify they meet this requirement. This year’s TEKS Certification Process requires: • The completion of the TEKS Certification 2023-24 Form, • Ratification by the LEA’s board of trustees or governing body in an open, public-noticed meeting; and • Submission of the TEKS Certification 2023-24 Survey and upload of the signature page of the ratified TEKS Certification 2023-24 Form.
