Due to recent developments regarding the apparent continued spread of the North American (or Swine) Flu into the central Texas area, notice of the World Health Organization’s decision to raise the influenza pandemic alert to a phase 5, the Disaster Declaration issued by Governor Perry, and the closure of central Texas area schools and school districts (including one school in the Austin Independent School District), the Board of Trustees will convene an emergency meeting, and is providing notice of such meeting pursuant to Texas Government Code Section 551.045. While there are no reported cases of the North American Flu in Lake Travis ISD, the Administration believes that the serious and potential threat of the Flu requires the provision of information to the Board of Trustees and the opportunity for the Board to take any emergency action necessary to protect the health and safety of the District’s students, staff, and community.
