2.1. Unpaid Leave Requests
Description:
A teacher had requested one day of unpaid time to attend the wedding of a niece. After I initially denied the request, the teacher purchased non-refundable tickets, so unpaid leave is no longer needed. However, at our last meeting, we agreed to compile some information about other similar requests and detailed information about this request. We will review this information.
We will also review an unpaid leave request from a cook that we reviewed at a recent meeting. The recommendation to the committee will be to deny the request, but committee members will be making the recommendation to the full school board for consideration. I recently denied an unpaid leave request for a teacher who desired to attend the wedding of a relative outside of the country. In addition, a cook submitted a 3-week unpaid leave request; we will review the request and make a recommendation to the school board. |

2.2. Sabbatical Request
Description:
A teacher has submitted a request for sabbatical leave to teach in a Chinese school in a program sponsored by the Sister Cities Commission. At least one previous teacher received sabbatical leave to participate in the program.

2.3. Support Personnel Grievance I
Description:
Representatives of the Support Personnel Group and committee members will discuss a grievance submitted on behalf of a member. Brad Johnson will present information about the school district's responses at earlier levels of the grievance procedure.

2.4. Support Personnel Grievance II
Description:
Representatives of the Support Personnel Group and committee members will discuss a grievance regarding a new GCED position. Brad Johnson will present information about the school district's responses at earlier levels of the grievance procedure.

2.5. Superintendent Contract
Description:
The board will be discussing the Superintendent's contractual terms for 2013-14 and a possible extension of his contract.

2.6. Hiring Retired Teachers
Description:
We will discuss the process for replacing positions made available due to a retirement in the middle of the year. Several issues have arisen when hiring back a retired teacher.

Description:
The committee may discuss other issues relevant to the Personnel Committee.

Description:
At upcoming meetings, we will be reviewing one or two grievances submitted by the Personnel Support Group and a sabbatical leave request for teaching in China through the Sister Cities Commission.
